I just got my Microtech Scarab back from repair and noticed that I'd forgotten about something I needed cleaned up.
My Scarab is the normal model (not Executive) with the griptape inserts. A couple of the inserts are clogged with *ahem* dried dead skin particles. The griptape is very abbrasive and coarse, and it'll sand away skin with a lot of use. So now I've got several-month-old skin stuck in the grit of the tape. And I can't seem to clean it up.
A toothbrush doesn't seem to be stuff-bristled enough, but I don't want to use a wire brush for obvious reasons. Is there some sort of household solvent that I could use (that wouldn't damage the tape or the anodized aluminum)? Vinegar? Coca-Cola? I tried emailing Martha Stewart, but she hasn't replied. Guess she's got a lot on her mind right now.
Also, does anyone know how deep the recesses are? It'd be pretty cool if I could make (or have someone else make) carbon fiber or rayskin inserts.
