Last week I got a call from Rick Menefee. He said he was finishing up a "special" pocketknife which he would be shipping very soon to me.

I knew I still had at least one on order from him, but it was a shadow trapper in micarta with no extras.

When I checked the mail yesterday, I was very pleasantly surprised to find this T. Bose inspired 3 & 5/8" trapper in CPM-D2 with black linen micarta scales, fluted bolsters, jeweled liners, and (this is really cool) an artistically inlaid elephant ivory federal shield. Rick, as some of you know, is a trapper for the federal government. I am also a federal employee, and I am especially pleased that Rick took it upon himself to inlay this federal shield in my trapper as a gift and gesture denoting our Fedbud status. :) At the present time, it is the only Menefee with an inlaid elephant ivory federal shield. I am proud to have this special trapper from one himself.

You sure meet some nice folks in the knife lover community.

Hope you all enjoy the vibe and the view:

That's very cool with the shield and a very well made knife overall. Ya done very well with that one. Congrats to you and Rick.

A unique Trapper Ford. Congratulations to you and Rick, it will serve you well....

I have a feeling we are going to see more unorthodox shields after this one popped up!!!

you know, as nice as the whole knife is...(and it is!) That shield, the material it is, and is set into; how clean, and superbly it is done, speaks volumes about the man and his status in his craft... Wow.

Along with what it represents, the gift and the thought, kudos to the man!

Congrats! not just the knife, but the friendship too!
