Here is a village model that Pradeep bought right out of the hand of the farmer. It is 15 inches and weighs 1.25 pounds. The blade is pitted from rust spots and has a flat spine like the Malla. It is ugly but tough and the edge is about 59 Rc. This is a blade that still has 75 years of work left in it. The buttcap is loose and needs epoxy. This is a knife for those who wondered how the Nepali farmers take care of their khukuris!

Karda and chakma made by BirGorkha and pretty good. Scabbard and frog made by BirGorkha and although not made by the sarki with no name they are decent enough.

We will deliver this really nasty villager to your door for $45. If you want beauty get an HI first line because this villager is really ugly.

Call or email if interested.

Methinks Jim has spoken for this khukuri as in another thread he has wondered if he shouldn't get a companion khukuri for his Nasty Villager.

Remember when Johnny Carson joked about a toilet paper shortage years back and the next morning everyone started emptying the shelves?

The guys who make it to the khonvention will go thru Uncle's stock like the plague of locusts in Egypt!

Pictures you can turn off. But a khuk in your hand is like a puppy in the window of a pet shop, almost impossible to turn down. And khukaholics know that if there's no use for a khuk, they can MAKE one if they try.

Years from now the older forumites will be talking about the great khukuri drought of 2000, like great grampa used to talk about the dust bowl days.

Thank you. I've been sitting here for the last ten minutes trying to talk myself out of buying this one. There was something about this beat up little blade that was calling me. I don't really NEED it, but you know how it goes... I'll put the $45 towards a later order. Enjoy.

I REALLY _LIKE_ THAT 17" VILLAGER YOU SENT ME!!!!!!!!!!

Man, A steel butt cap & bolster & what is really unique about it is that the bolster looks like it was welded together with Copper of all things!!!

The handle fits me perfectly although I did cut that big heavy ring into an angle like most of the khukri's have to make it more comfortable.
I don't know if it's goin' in the truck or not!!
I REALLLY LIKE THIS KHUKURI!!!!!

Khukuri FAQ

Hey guys,
This one came in the mail today. Uncle, you are right, it is an ugly one! "She has a nice personality though..." Isn't that what people say about ugly women? This one doesn't even make it there! I was examining the edge, next to the tip, where there is a slight wave in the profile, and she bit me! Very sharp edge on this one! Seriously though, with a little polishing and some epoxy, this will be an excellent work knife. The balance is excellent and it feels good in the hand. The handle is surprisingly big for a villager (diameter wise that is...), and really feels good. I bought this with someone in mind, but I don't know if he'll end up with it or not, it may just dig its heels in under the bed

. Time will tell.

Just because it is ugly doesn't mean it can't be sharp -- like some women, especially some in our government. I am almost certain that khukuri has seen some tough duty in Nepal before flying here. We don't see many used khukuris coming here as village models but I'd like to get more because they have already proven themselves in the field and need no testing.

Uncle,
This "Ugly Duckling" is slowly turning into a swan. I've spent some time with sandpaper and the buffing wheel, and it is really starting to look decent. I still haven't had the chance to get out and beat it up, but on the looks end, it is definitely improving. I have not sanded out the pits from the rust, but so far, have left them there as 'character marks'. I might get them out later, but probably not. This knife has a speaks differently than the others that I have and have had. I'll update on the performance, and try to get a decent scan of it once I finish cleaning it up a little more.
Regards

Hey guys, the transition is complete! This ugly duckling has become a swan! After much careful sanding, epoxying, and polishing, this knife looks very good! I left some of the pits in the steel for character, but sanded out a large majority of them. The horn handle on this one looks absolutely gorgeous! After epoxying the cracks and the butt-cap, there were still some voids in the handle that had not been 'filled up'. I used super-glue to finish filling them, and, once I re-polished the handle afterwards, the cracks now look like grain lines (a little whitish-grey). The remainder of the handle has a shine that is a mile deep. I hate to part with this one, but I promised it to a friend

. I have taken pics and scans of it, and will try to post them later on tonight. It is truly amazing what a little elbow grease, sandpaper, polishing compound and a grinder can do for an "ugly" knife. Of all my knives, the horn on this one is by far the most beautiful.
