Recently bought a Case Canoe at a local gun show. The guy was selling off some of his old collection of camping and trapping supplies. I bought it because it reminds me of my grandfather. I have been carrying it for three weeks straight along with my Griptilian. With my job I often need a one handed opening and closing knife but whenever I can, out comes the Canoe. When I am not at work, the Canoe is my go to blade and I often carry it along with a fixed blade I made whenever I am in the bush. I haven't even looked at my other knives including PM2, blur, Rat 1 among others. The grip and the Canoe just feel like they can't be beat. Just wanted to say hi and the I am happy to be here. Loving this slip joint.

Nice canoe:thumbup: Just going by your index finger I assume it's sharp:o:p

Traditionals are a great place to be...WELCOME:thumbup:

Nice knife.

Warning: these Case slipjoints are very addictive.

That is a stunning entry!

(What's up with the electrocuted finger?)

Beautiful knife you have there. I too am a recent convert and now wonder how I ever got along without a slip joint :)

Welcome!! The Case Canoe is a super knife and really feels great in the hand and it sure cuts well too!. I really like the etch of the Birch bark canoe on it. As a matter of fact...I think I will get mine out. Thanks!!

Thanks guys! The electrical tapeople keeps coolant, grease and oil out of a recent cut at the knuckle. I am a machinist and before steel is deburred, it can slice like no other. This cut was a result of a freshly machined piece of steel. Entered into the traditional worled with a Case Mini Trapper in CV. Bought one for myself and each of my groomsmen at my wedding. The Canoe gets much more pocket time though. I tend to save the trapper for more formal occasions. My canoe goes everywhere every day.

Nice canoe and welcome! Canoes are some of my favorite patterns but you will find after looking at all my fellow enablers knives, theres tons more patterns to be had! Just a warning, its a slippery slope you've found yourself on:rolleyes:.

Nice knife and the CV steel is great. You will be buying more so please remember to post pictures of your new ones.

Redbeardo and Markesharp have issued the warnings so I'll give the info. Check out Great Eastern Cutlery. Once you see how they have resurrected some of the old brands and styles from the days of our grandparents and great-grandparents (at the highest level of quality), you'll want more patterns. That inevitably leads to looking at the older brands that don't exist anymore, Keen Kutter, Cattaraugus, Camillus (the original US made), to name a few. :D
Welcome indeed my friend. Other than other BF members, you won't find a better group of people than the traditionals clan.
Enjoy yourself and we're excited you're here.

By the way, you'll find that we LOVE pics. I'm surprised there weren't more posted. I'll start.

Welcome to the forum, and be prepared to be converted to the world of traditional. The canoe is a great pattern, and Case is a great company. I was also a machinist for the last half of my working life, and I know what you mean about the coolant. It gets everywhere. Can't begin to guess how many parts I cranked out on a Bridgeport mill or Harding lathe. My knife for most of my machinist life was a Buck 301 stockman. They used to drop off the round stock for the lathes in bundles taped together with greasy filthy plastic tape that had to be cut three or four places before we could stack the stuff on the racks. Some parts we made were machined out of delrin, so the burrs were cut off with the pocket knife. A really sharp knife worked better than the debarring tool.

Again, welcome t the best place on the 'net with the greatest people. It's like pulling up a chair on the front porch with friends and family.

IMO, the Canoe is a very underrated pattern. Yours is a nice example.

I find that a traditional slip joint kind of makes you slow down and just gives you a little memory of a simpler time.... maybe of grandpa, or your old man.... maybe of something you never even got to experience, but maybe would have liked to. I've gotten to appreciate that short moment where you stop what you are doing, pull out that slip joint, pick which blade for the job and open the knife. I got rid of almost all of my modern knives...... and I never carry them at that.

Welcome to the Traditional forums.
