A couple days ago I was on a canoe and kayak trip with some friends, and with a few friends of friends. One of the friends of friends was paddling a kayak. I was in a canoe. Each person in the group made small talk with the others throughout the day, and in the ten or so minutes I spent with the friend of a friend in the kayak, he seemed like an okay guy. Later that night, I found myself sitting around a fire with the group and with the new kayak guy sitting to my left. (I should mention that the new guy looked to be in his mid twenties.)
I don't know how it came up, but one of us must of said something about knives, because this new young kayaker guy says something like, "Yeah, I'm really into traditional knives."
I take his age into consideration and wonder if "traditional knives" to him means the same as what "traditional knives" means to me. So I ask him, "What do you mean by traditional knives?"
He says, "I have a pretty decent collection of Great Eastern Cutlery and Northwoods knives." Of course, much conversation ensued throughout the night.
The former friend of a friend is now a friend. Last night I got a short text from him. He said he wanted to sell his plastic kayak, and get into a more traditional canoe.
