Hey Cold Steel fans,
CS is my favorite blade manufacturer, and I have more of their stuff than anything else....

I'm wondering if any of you out there are knowledgable or experienced enough to tackle my question.

My first real folder was a CS Scimitar Folder (PE) that I got close to 10 yrs ago. In the last 6 yrs I've succeeded in breaking the clip, TRYING to attach a new clip on it (from CS) that DIDNT fit (thereby ruining it and the screw holes), and figure out a way to take the slop out of the lockup (liner-lock variety). The messed up clip I can live with (though I'd love to hear why they sent me a "new/improved" clip that it didn't fit/line up with their screw holes) but I'm really looking for ideas about how to address the rattly lockup.
Ready, Go!

You might be able to tighten up the lock by adjusting the liners in relation to one another. Basically, loosen the pivot and handle screws, place the knife in a kitchen drawer so that when pressure is applied to the drawer the lock side liner and scale are being pushed forward and the other side scale and liner are being pushed back. While keeping gentle pressure on the drawer, re-tighten the handle screws. When that's done, you can take it out and re-tighten the pivot to taste. I use this method to make liner and frame locks lock up earlier, but it may also help to tighten things up on a worn lock (not totally sure, but it's worth a shot). I always do this with the pivot end of the knife facing the counter, but I guess it'd work either way. I hope this illustration is sufficient to show what I'm talking about. Let me know if you need further explanation.
