So after doing a bit of research as it turns out REKAT once did a folding version of the warrior. Called the pocket hobbit. Please make a spyderco folder to go with the FB version.

For one I think Spyderco will do it much better. And it'd be a badass fighting folder.

Back when the Warrior first came out Sal said they were looking into a smaller version and a folder. Haven't heard any more about the folder, but then there was no tip off before the Pygmy Warrior appeared in the 2012 catalog.

I sure wish he would give his take on it here.

There was talk about the Pygmy fixed blade on the Spyderco forum before it showed up in the catalog. Personally I'm not so into the Warrior folder, since the Warrior concept is double edged and I see it partially as a pikal application knife. The handle needs to be really big compared to the blade, in order to cover both edges and I'm not so fond of working against the locking mechanism while using the back edge, even if it happens to be a strong lock.

Speaking of back edge, I really hope they're gonna go with a proper spyderedge on the Pygmy fixed, like on the full size (and in the Pygmy product description in the catalog) and not those saw teeth things that you see on the prototype pictures. I love the idea and general design of the Pygmy fixed, so I'll most likely get the knife either way, but that's what I would like. :-)

The Pygmy is out so I hope the Folding Warrior is a go. I have the old Rekat version but would like to see it upgraded with the Spyderhole.

As for the double edge..I'd like to have the option of a now serrated top edge...as it could create some serious folding dagger or double edge issues in some places.

The old rolling lock is pretty strong so I dont know what spyderco will use?

If it happens I'm betting they will do a Compression lock....or maybe the ball bearing lock.

If you want a folder with a blade similar to the Warrior (though without the serrations on the back of the blade) Emerson designed the CQC-8 to have a blade and handle flow that is very similar to the Warrior. The '8 also works equally well in forward or reverse grip. I didn't see the similarity until I held both, and it's definitely there.

Wow, just did an image search and the Pocket Hobbit is a bizarre looking knife - perfect for Spyderco :D

Oh I know all bout the 8. Emerson are personally my favorite. But Spydies are still still awesome too. and yeah...I'd still like to see the pocket hobbit reborn.

It's sitting on my desk and I'[ve been working on "Spyderizing" the model. We've just been really snowed lately. My plan is still to produce a line of Warriors including the "Hobbit" (we'll use a different name) and the "Folding Warrior".

Don't know which lock we'll use. The Rolling lock is owned by Benchmade so it will not likely be used, but we have a few good locks.

My favourite Spyderco lock at the moment is the caged ball bearing lock on my Manix 2 cruwear, it's a true one-handed opening and closing folder. Honestly though all Spyderco's lock's are great, I have never had a problem with any of mine. I'm sure whatever lock is chosen for this knife it will be appropriate and the best for the job.
