Why not upgrade, surely 10 bucks a year is not going to hurt anyone, skip two meals at Burger King and you can put it here and post away. Some folks need to help keep the forums up and running and you can help.

I don't post in Political, not smart enough, but I am smart enough to know it cost money to run this forum and I ponied up because I enjoy it. Perhaps you should too.

"just sanction them" means a lot of extra work (and often, aggravation) for the moderators. It's not as easy as "he said a bad word, ban him!" It means following a deteriorating discussion until it can't go on anymore, giving an infraction, which leaves the troll to cotniue elsewhere later. And seeing the original discussion fail to recover anyway.

When one simple requirement blocks so many of the worst offenders, why not use it?
