Back when I was in junior high and Sylvester Stallone was at the height of his popularity, I remember seeing an interview with him in which he said, basically, the climb to the top is more rewarding and fun, because once you get there, everybody starts trying to knock you down. I remember it because my dad was facing the same kind of garbage from people who were once his "friends" and partners in his industry. This was about 15 years ago.
So here we are today, with everybody trying to knock Emerson down. Not to take anything away from Terzuola, Elishewitz, Lightfoot, Carson, et al, but Ernie is THE guy that provided the catalyst for the popularity of the tactical knife industry as it is today. I know, I know, some of those guys were making knives when Ernie was still in diapers. So what? If it weren't for Enie's knives first getting my attention, I never would have heard of those other guys. Are we also supposed to hate Tiger Woods because he came along and taught the old timers a thing or two about golf? Maybe we should just bite our tongues and let him elevate the game!
Okay, maybe Ernie didn't invent the chisel grind, but I never heard him say he did! To hear some people, you would think Ernie was taking credit for inventing ALL cutting instruments! From all I have read, seen and heard, he has never taken credit for anything he didn't deserve. Frankly, I think he is amazingly humble, given his accomplishments.
Now, if you own an Emerson and don't like it, sell it. Post it in the forums and it will be gone within a day. If you are crying in the corner about your long wait for a custom, sell your order to someone here, and you will also be free of that millstone. If you have a question or gripe about the quality, don't come here and cry about it, go to the company and ask them directly. If you are still not happy, again, you will find no shortage of buyers here.
You know, I would not put up with anybody coming into my house and insulting my wife, kids, or home; this forum is like our collective Emerson home. We can have enjoyable discussion, maybe even some disagreements, but the point should be to elevate ourselves and each other, not drag each other down. The longer I live, the more I am convinced that there are just too many people that are not happy unless they are miserable and complaning. We don't need that here! There is too much to enoy in life, including Emerson knives!
So, complainers, be on your way. For all you old timers, thanks for being good friends and for sharing a common passion. Cut on!
Now, about that website...
