A "reverse combo edge"

I'm relatively new around here so if this has been discussed point me in the right direction.

I like Spyderco serrations. I have a couple (or more) other brands with serrations and they are not as aggressive or as usable as the SpyderEdge. I also like plain edge knives. I have a couple of Spyderco's with combo edges. I've been reading reviews of various combo edge knives in which the reviewers point out that they prefer the serrations at the tip of the blade and the plain edge near the handle. The purpose of this is supposedly to enable finer work with the plain edge with more aggressive cutting near the tip.

I scanned the Spyderco website. I didn't see any knives made with a "reverse combo edge". Does Spyderco make or has it ever made such a combination...or ever considered it?

The only blades like that I've seen are on the 1h SAKs like the Trekker.

Hi Lee. It's been considered a number of times over the past 10 years or so.

Market testing indicated that the majority preferred the teeth close to the hand where more force could be applied for rope cutting. The general concensus was those that prefer the plain edge for fine cutting would still be happier with an all plain edge variation.
