I started making knives about a year ago.how am I doing ??
I can see an obvious improvement in fitup, edge perfomance and in the time it takes to make a knife start to finish.I need to improve on "fashion" by actually buying handle materials and stuff. There's only so many cowbone's in the pet shop. From first to last here's some pics.

Wow, bro... wish I could say I've had the same amounts of improvements! In need to knock off the bs and just MAKE a knife --start to finish -- and quit making a mistake and dropping it, and moving on to the next one.

Your stuff is looking sweet as heck, man! Bet it feels good.

Eight nice looking knives. This comes from a newbie who finished (?) his first knife last weekend...a railroad spike... but my suggestion would be to pay more attention to the little details...like spacing and fit. Keep up the good work and always look at the last knife and ask..how can I improve it?

It's a never ending quest.But you're making progress [just like the bridge ] !!

Those look sweet man. Just remember to keep everything as tight as possible and not to get heavy handed with the files or when finishing. Bruce Evans is a great guy to check out if you need some advice and tutorials and remember to read all you can. I've been playing around with it for a little over four years now and my fifth knife went to Iraq with my brother. Bruce is definitly the go to guy for advice. His website is homestead.com/beknives1/beknives5.html. He has some awesome tutorials there and a bunch of pics of his knives are in the albums there too, as well as some great contact info. Good luck

Thank's guys,You should see the "try again later bucket"
The hardest thing for me is making those tight tolerances work out.Doing Iron work on a commercial level is more "forgiving" if you will or "close enough". Dont get me wrong we do have tolerances there just in ALOT bigger increments ;)
Thanks Bradley, Bruce is a major influence in my knifemaking. The tutorials are great and the man himself is a majician.

Hey Mete,Did they start the demo on that bridge yet? Do you know if the old one is wrought iron??? If so I'll be there at first light!!:D

Looks like most of the grinds are a modified convex grind....Right???? Looking good there dude.... Keep it us. I had an excellent maker pick and pick and pick.... sometimes it pissed me off, but he pushed me to where I am now 4 yrs later.... I don't know alot, but always like to talk shop.... give me a yell sometime.... 931-302-8530

keep up the good work!!!!!

Joe,
Looking good budy! Drastic improvement from first to last:thumbup: You mentioned new handle material. Check out www.staburl.com He's the best I've found on Ebay and his prices are great too. Nice guy to deal with.

modified convex grind? Is that something i invented by accident :)
seriously though, the one cable fighter is hollow ground and the one below is flat ground. the rest i started out trying to get fancy and just washed out the grind lines. The KMG has helped bigtime  .I need to work more on my hammer skills than anything that's the way i want to make knives.I just learned from a blacksmith last weekend the more you hit hot steel the longer it stays hot! So I guess i should stop staring at it and just give it hell.
Thanks again guys.
