So Moose's you need a BK11 Thread turned me on to getting a little neck knife. I picked one up, got the micarta scales, and modded my sheath with paracord to feel like it wasn't even on my neck. After the paracord was complete I was wearing the necker everywhere: work, church, out to play, and to the dog park. It became part of my EDC and my wife was even used to the fact that now I not only had at least 1 knife in my pocket and a gun on my hip or in my bag that I had to have one around my neck. It sat on my nightstand and as soon as I got dressed in the morning a knife hit my pants pocket and the BK11 was around my neck. That is until I got home from the dog park with my pup this morning and started taking off layers and realized that even though the BK11 is a great little knife, the sheath is not very positive and didn't hold it well at all. So, after driving 15 minutes home from the dog park I bucked up and drove back to search out the 11 in the mud and water. I figured it was relatively clear today and I certainly would be able to find my new treasured tool. However, after searching for 35 minutes I had to call it quits as every inch of the park was covered except in the 8' wide water trenches I was jumping over. Apparently I have to get a 710 or Godspeed for my next 11 as the little kydex sheath that came with the first will be stuck up into a cabinet as a reminder!!!

Sorry I'm in the pic, but its the only decent shot I had of my 11 neck sheath. Its from The 710, and its perfect. While I never not once had an issue with the stock sheath, this one is leaps and bounds superior.

I'm sorry you lost such an amazing lil blade man. I lost a buck 110 on day 2 of a 10 day trek in the bush once. I was left with a folding saw and a hatchet. I made due, but it taught me a lesson in keeping up with my gear.

Aww man, losing the good blades really sucks! Sympathies, mi amigo. It's happened to me once or twice and what gets me grinding my teeth is picturing the lucky dude that picks up the free knife! That's why my daily carry at work is always some no-name Chinese folder that I gave $5 for. That way i don't miss it when it runs away.

Sorry for your loss. I use an Azwelke sheath daily and have had no problems at all.

That sucks, Hopefully whoever finds it becomes a Beckerhead later. When you lose a knife you have to buy two to replace it, thems the rules.

I have a retention strap on my cam-11. I took a piece of paracord, gutted it, put a small neodymium in each side of the paracord. Easy enough to separate, but won't let the knife slip out.

Well, I guess it can't be all bad as the rule of buying two to replace one is new to me. I have learned more than one thing today!

Another cheap option if you don't want to get a custom sheath is to use a small bungee cord. You can get the small canisters of them at wal-mart and they aren't very expensive. The ends will fit right through the eyelets and the notch at the bottom of the handle will hold the cord nice and secure.

Look at it this way, at least you didn't fully qualify for the Darwin awards. Be glad that when it came out while you were jumping around that it didn't end up in your belly or lungs. Upside down carry of any neck knife is not a smart thing to do and you got lucky this time!

Sorry for the loss. Maybe you can get back out there after the rain and find it!

I use a little bit of elastic cord. Any craft store has it.

I done this for a while, but even with a stripped 11, I never had a problem with the blade falling out?

Sorry to hear, this really is a downer. A favorite companion like that is definitely a loss. I know my "fav" daily companions in life, be it my Seiko divers watch I've had for 10 yrs+, my 1911 .45 that I've carried daily since 1986, my BK2, my Kindle... Those certain very much used and appreciated items you appreciate so much can develop a sentimental attachment - it was there when your son was born, it was there on that favorite camping trip with your Grandfather years ago, etc.
