A SAK for my daughter.

The ROTC did a survival day at my daughters school. They made fires, pitched tents, etc. She LOVED it. So now she has started asking for camping gear. She mentioned to me last night that she needs to use one of my knives when she is "surviving" or needs her own. I thought about a fixed blade but decided I wanted to go with a folder for now. I think the versatility of a SAK will be perfect.

My wife and I recently got married and I married up so I have never thought about trying to take my wife camping but she says that she loves camping and did a bunch of it growing up so it looks like we'll be doing more camping now as a family.

Anyway my daughters favorite color is yellow so I got her this:

looks like you married up in a big way, good on you that the two ladies in your life want to spend time outside! Great choice on the knife too!
 
First and foremost i'm sure you are excited your daughter enjoys "outdoorsy" activities and is interested in knives. I think a SAK is perfect for a child's first knife. I am sure she will love it and this should go without saying, but teach her proper knife handling and safety if you have not already. Congrats on having a awesome daughter. :D

I'm a licensed counselor and had to spend 3 years with a supervisor to obtain my LPC. The guy that was my supervisor is a great guy. He's a friend/mentor to me and really helped me out along the way. He could have charged me an unreal rate for the past 3 years but never did. He likes a smaller edc and is a beer connoisseur so I bought him an Alox Cadet and had "Doc" engraved on it.

Man, SAK's make GREAT gifts!
 
For Christmas I ordered my daughters each alox cadets with their names engraved on them
 
I got a bunch of classics to give out as gifts this year for Christmas...

Each picked out in a pattern to suit the recipients personality....

Great choice for your daughter by the way op.
