Although there weren't many Custom Shop pieces this year, this one caught my eye immediately and so without hesitation, I snapped it up. There's just something about it... Satin, ram's horn, brass bolts, thin stock, a clip point with a bit of Bowie flavor...One great knife!!
Please excuse the really crappy pix...I quickly snapped them in my room because, and with many thanxx to Joe Paranee

, I hooked up with Mr. Paul Long to order a custom sheath for it and so it's on the way to Texas.
Here it is...Currently the only SARsquatch variant and also the only one in satin done by the Custom Shop.

From a collector's standpoint, the slabs don't match up well, but that's only as far as symmetry goes...no real surprise there as natural material like ram's horn is pretty tricky when it comes to finding 2 pieces with this much character big enough and similar enough to be even a fairly close match, which usually requires not only having a large amount in-house, but some luck in finding similar pieces that fit. However they are still extremely cool and look to be thoughtfully chosen for this variant and both have loads of character! The other side has more of a random pattern with more patches of the lighter bone, and from a USER'S standpoint, it is perfect. The angled lines seen on this side are excellent for fingers to lock into the grooves, and the other side is extremely comfortable against the palm. All in all, it is a beautiful piece...simple, light, sharp, darned good lookin', easily controllable, and it dances in the hand! Perfect for belt carry...which is why I wasted no time getting it sent off for some pants straight from the Show. When it returns from Texas, I'll re-shoot it with the sheath.
To the Custom Shop: Home Run! Ya knocked this one outta the park!!
