OK, now that I have a (so-called) Skinny Ash and figure I really NEED to get a smaller relative for it. My reading and searches turn up Mean(er?) Street and Active Duty as the choices. This time I'm looking for a solid little knife that can be used for nearly everything a small knife is used for. I'm curious about your feedback about those two and appreciate any help. I believe I'll have to get it from the sales forum here, and I anticipate with this smaller Busse, I'll be done...although from what I read and see here, that is easier said than done.

Sus scrofa?

Sus doesn't appeal to me as a fixed blade, although I have found a similar blade shape handy in a pocket knife.

scrofa or active duty, i heard rumors of some BAD active duty's dressed in satin with green linen and some fancy g-10 soon to come at a company store near you. ;)

.

I'd go for the Acive Duty. It's a great blade shape and length for a utility-type knife, and the handle is just the right length (for me). They can also be found at reasonable prices on the exchange.

There're also several variations to choose from, although you may have to wait for a particular one to show itself.

You might want to look at Game Wardens too. The market for those is pretty soft right now, and they can be had for a very reasonable price.

Aw geez...now I got to tune into 'some' company store on a regular basis - the things life forces upon us! :>

I did think about the Game Wardens...it's the right size but I can't get a good idea about the knife from the pictures, as I can from the others.

Green Linen and satin AD's! OINK!:eek:
yup, and we all know that the green linen is as rare as hens teet... er hogs teeth, jerry must have found a batch when he passed out in the scale room. amazing what you can find when you're at floor level.

.

I already have two BAD's and don't really need another, but green linen is my favorite handle... Oh man, I'm doomed :(

On topic: Gargs, I recommend you get an Active Duty of some kind. The BAD's are too thin for serious prying, but they slice like demons! If you want one you can really abuse, get a thicker saber ground version (like the miliganza AD's for example). Leaner Meaners are great too, I just prefer the size and look of the AD's; but YMMV. Good luck in your search :)

Doggone it, Skunk!! You know I can't resist ... green linen.

Well, there goes my lunch money. :(

You could also customize a SusScrofa or AD or MnrSt to your specs. If you don't quite see the knife you want, do you see the knife you want in the knife you're looking at??? For example, the Nuke EDC is a cut-down custom SusScrofa (right?), and other guys have made some really wickid edc variants using the SS as a base.
