A secondary market score helped me obtain a Kizlyar I'd been unable to get ahold of......

There was a particular knife made by Kizlyar that I had been waiting to get for over a year now. Although it is still a currently manufactured model, the vendor I deal with to get this brand of knife, has been out of stock for quite some time. In fact, it's the only model I have saved on my "wish list" over on that particular vendor's website.
And, with it not having been back in stock for over a year now, I had pretty much brushed it off as a "no can get item".
But, while I was using the search function on ebay's internet auction site, I ran across a seller that had the exact same model Kizlyar knife I had been waiting to get. The Kizlyar model knife I speak of is a Bear-2, and it has a Damascus blade.

The seller didn't have a large number of goods to sell, and to be honest, his goods were miscellaneous in nature. He had the knife listed as new with it's original leather sheath and original factory box, but it seems that it was likely owned by himself or someone else as a collectable, and likely explains it's new condition listing.

The following two pics I got as screenshots from the knife dealer that I have gotten my new Kizlyar knives from in the past...

And the few pics below are from the ebay seller out of Brooklyn NY that I was able to find having the knife ready for an immediate sale...

I now have to wait a few days to get it in hand. I am hoping that this secondary market acquisition turns out to be a good score. The pics are a bit blurry, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what I receive 🤞

On a related note, the following is my Kizlyar 'Bear' knife with a H12M steel blade, (which is roughly equal to D2 steel).
It seems pretty obvious that the molds that they used to make the guard and pommel on this knife, are the same ones used to make the guard & pommel for the Damascus blade version.

I hope it turns out to be the knife you’ve been on the hunt for and not some knockoff. Blurry pics are always a red flag for me.
If the selling price was in line for what you were expecting, it should be fine. Definitely post some clear pics when you get it in hand.

Thanks! And, yes, the price was indeed in line with what my usual Kizlyar dealer sold them for, (a tad bit of savings for me, but not much).
The pics weren't the greatest, but I have to admit that my pics here I shared here were screenshots, and after cropping them and all, are much more blurry than the originals shown on ebay.
The seller doesn't have a long history on ebay, but he does carry a 100% positive feedback thus far.

I will definitely share some pictures of it here when it arrives 🤞👍

Pretty awesome looking.
Yeah, I thought so too! Ever since the first time I saw it, it did speak to me, but... You know that old saying that goes, "If you snooze, you lose"... Well, that happened to me with this model.
When I first ran across it online, I hesitated to buy it. Some time passed, and after obtaining some other Kizlyar knives, I finally decided to order it, but it was then out of stock. The wait for it to be restocked was long, and recently believed it would likely not occur, (they still list it as out of stock).
Running into it on ebay yesterday was definitely unexpected, and so I was not about to let that "snoozing and losing" thing happen again 😅

Still, I didn't expect I'd ever be ordering it on the secondary market from a random Brooklyn NY ebay seller 🤦

The seller listed the following information in it's description. Likely it being a word for word factory description...

Specifications
Blade Length - 175±15 мм
Blade Steel - 57-59 HRC
Handle/Color - Black Wood
Manufacturer - Kizlyar
Material - Damascus steel
Overall Length - 300±20 мм
Sheath - Leather Sheath
Use:
Camping
Everyday
Hunting

Description:

Kyzliar knife "Bear-2". This genuine knife forged in Kizlyar manufacture. Considered to be a cold weapon.

Serialized Cold weapon.
Handle - Wood (Hornbeam)
Sheath - Genuine Leather

To prevent corrosion, the knife blade is coated with GOI-54p grease. Before use, the protective grease must be removed with hot water or steam.

What it does not list is the blade steels used. Is it a mix of carbon steels, or a mix of stainless steels... I don't know.

I was on ebay again yesterday and ran across a seller offering up a new condition Kizlyar catalog that seems to date back some years. It didn't have it's year listed, but one of the catalog pages showed major Kizlyar distributors around the world, and the one listed for the USA is not even around anymore.
Anyhow, the seller was asking $30 + shipping costs for it, and that was a wee bit more than it was worth to me... But, I made an offer of $15. I figured if the seller didn't accept my offer, it was no biggy. But, if he did accept, I'd be able to check out the thirty something page catalog and quench my curiosity.
You see, I had asked my USA located Kizlyar dealer for a catalog, but he had no such thing to give me.
This incoming catalog intrigues me even more, since it seems to date back some years ago when the 'Nord Crown' Art Knife/Custom Knife company in St. Petersburg was still simply Kizlyar's Art Knife/Custom knife division. So, it predates Nord Crown becoming a seperate identity.
The catalog is done in both Russian and English, so I won't have to worry about translating the info over to Engish so that I can understand it all.

Here is a pic that was on the ebay auction showing the catalog's front cover...

I will likely receive the knife I ordered and this catalog on Monday.
I can't wait to skim through it 😊

I'm hoping that these two latest ebay buys make me smile with satisfaction
🤞😁🤞

I am not quite sure what year the catalog is. I believe it predates 'Nord Crown' becoming it's own identity.
I will put up pics of it's pages for anyone that may be curious on what's all in it...

They have certain knife laws for civilian ownership. If a knife falls under certain government listed specs/characteristics, it will be placed on their list of cold weapons. A cold weapon is restricted over there, so a civilian needs permission/license to obtain/posses them.

In other words, dumb laws do exist all over the world, not just within the USA 😁

My Nord Crown 'Shark' knife and my Kizlyar 'Bear' knife, are my only two Damascus blade knives....

20220413_152423_(1).jpg20220502_122653_(1).jpg

The Nord Crown has what I feel is a more refined Damascus blade in it's blade shape and in it's Damascus pattern.
But, I also like the more random Damascus pattern on the Kizlyar, and it's blade shape is pretty classic.

In other words, for different reasons, I like them both.
They are both very nicely executed 👍

Here is where my new Kizlyar 'Bear' Damascus steel knife wound up being displayed 👍
