I joined a group for a day hike. It was almost two hour boat ride each way.. It was a very over cast day.

One of the pics of the Marina. If you like boats then its the place to spend a day at.

As soon as we got out on the other side of the break water. here was the common sight.

About 30 min on the boat we came on a pod of what seemed like 40 Dolphins. They were going fast in one direction. The captain of the boat dicided to follow them.

We found the reason for the rush. There was a feeding frenzy like in the NG moment.

Thats the island it self.. Many people come to camp on the island. But you have to carry all the water you would need as there is no water.
You can also Kayak around the island and see many caves..
The place we got off the boat.

awesome pics Sasha... that place looks gorgeous... i have wanted to check out Santa Cruz island for years...:)

The plant with the berries appears to be a Toyon Berry. They are CA natives. However, what is curious is that Toyon berries, Heteromeles arbutifolia have red berries in winter. Opuntia flowers generally bloom in Feb or so, so the native plants are showing signs as to how they are in the winter months. Maybe these pictures were from earlier this year? Or is it because I am familiar with So Cal inland (Ventura Co.) plants? Great photos! Thanks!

great pics sasha, I was just at the channel islands a few months ago at scorpion camp. we took island packers out of ventura harbor, it sure is beautiful. thanks for the pics. we have to hook for a so cal hike next time I am down visiting the parents.
