went for a short hike with my little hiking partner (that's my blind pitbull leading the charge :))

slow, but steady in the steeper stretches

the area we're hiking in is rolling hills with a mix of juniper and ponderosa pine

turns out the 2 miles was about right, as storm clouds starting rolling in pretty quick

yup Beve McQueen :) no has been a couple year process, didn't think much about at first- just bumping into things occasionally, then more so- now he's pretty close to totally blind. he's starting to get up there in years (10), but still pretty happy :D

Apologies to Beve for the spelling. ;-)

I feel for you. My boy was diagnosed with a growth in his shoulder at Christmas. It was looking like curtains were imminent. He's stabilized now, and on meds. It will kill him, meantime we do his bucket list. Strange thing is I had him at a dog show last September and his age was consistently way underestimated. Anyway, it's been and is a privilege, even if the git has just cost me my slot in Australia with mah woman. Ho hum, she'll be back in a couple of weeks to tell me what I missed.

That's a pretty good hike for the little guy! I remember taking my son with me when I was "rucking" some back trails/roads where I was stationed. My son was about three and kept up for the first couple of miles and then would lag...quite often, he would end up on my shoulders (with the pack) on the hike out. He's 12 now and still loves hiking and backpacking!

Looks like some fantastic partners to share (what appears to be) some wonderful land with.

BT - sorry to hear about your dog, as we all know they quickly become part of the family

Rock- longer hikes that's exactly where he ends up :) I still have vivid memories of hiking with my Dad when I was 3-4 years, funny what things stick w/ you in the long run

not much :) 20x30" (1/8" thick)- perfect for a sit/kneel pad, in a pinch I can most of my torso on it

That is great, he will remember this kind of stuff forever, I know I do. His little backpack is too cool!

Beautiful country! I love taking the little ones out.

Thanks for sharing MT

This is too cool and what a great little guy. He will remember these hikes for a lifetime. My dad was down several weeks back and he took my boys on a walk about in the woods surrounding our house. Our property backs up to an old hunt club so they we able to wondered for a few hours. They haven't stopped talking about it!
