Please, I'm not looking for accolades, this is just a knife story. Tomorrow I end my 38 year career in law enforcement. I began with a Buck 110 on my Sam Browne belt and thanks to you all, end with a yellow CV peanut in my pocket. Lots of knives and I guess lots of stories in between. Thanks

Hey, Scoop, congratulations on a 38 year career. Thanx for keeping folks safe and contributing to peace and justice. Hope you enjoy retirement, and beware...... with nothing to do, pocketknives begin to add up.
LOL

Congrats on the retirement!!

My dad retired from 27 years on the same police department and has not worn a watch since and carries one of my early slipjoints.

After five years into retirement I asked him how he was enjoying it. He told me he could not understand how he ever found the time to work!

Congrats, Scoop. I retired from federal law enforcement 4 years ago and have never looked back. I hope you enjoy your time as much as I have mine.

Thanks for your service.

And here I thought it would be about 2 inch blades...lol. Congrats and thanks for the service...

Congratulations on a safe end to your career.

Now that you've told us what you started with, and what you ended with, pray tell what came in between, and how you arrived there. Sometimes the journey is more interesting than the destination.:)

The usual I guess, various "tactical style knives such as Spyderco's, Benchmades, Bucks ,etc. I thought my quest for the "best" knife ended when I was finally able to purchase a Sebenza. All good knives in their own right.
Then I stumbled on to this sub-forum ,especially those threads relating to minimalism, and then it hit me as it has others, why do I need a 3'' one hand opening knife wearing out my pockets. Jackknife, you are probably the main proponent of this theory and I am a now a true believer. Still carry my SAK's when required. Thanks to all for your kind comments.

That old peanut will do most anything, and I enjoy Jackknifes' stories as much as well. Congrats, may you never look back.

Thank you for your comment, sir.

Out of curiousity, did you have much use for a knife in the course of your police career, and if so, what kind of cutting chore was required? (If I may ask?)

And; did you make the jump from single blade locker to peanut in one jump, or was there some other patterns that aided in the transition?

Please forgive my inquiring nature, but I love to hear about real world experiance.

Let me ponder that question. I just stopped home to change clothes, collect my wife of 35years,and head to our favorite watering hole for a small gathering. My DD is all lined up.
