I just wanted to take a minute to share my impressions of the 288 QuickFire. I don’t see a lot of talk about this model and I think it deserves some recognition.

I bought my QuickFire about 13 months ago but I never carried it much until recently. I’ve had it in my pocket for about 2 weeks now and I’m impressed.

I’ve never been much of a fan of Assisted Opening knives. Mainly because I could never find one that locks the blade closed securely enough for me to trust it not opening in my pocket. The lock for the assisted mechanism is the best feature of this knife in my opinion. It’s very secure and I have no concerns about the blade coming open in my pocket. It’s also well placed and easy to use.

I’m mostly a slip joint kind of guy and as a result, I’m not very educated on modern knife construction. That being said, I find the pinned (or rivetted) construction of the QuickFire impressive. Most modern one hand openers seem to be held together with screws but this one is pinned. I think that’s pretty cool and it seems unique to me as well.

There isn’t anything fancy about the QuickFire. It’s not expensive or necessarily collectable but it’s a solid working knife that’s made in the USA with an assisted lock that I can trust. A very confidence-inspiring knife.

Good job on this model, Buck!
