as i had today off, i was putttering around and i notice, again, my kukri, with out its belt attachment and small knive and karda. feeling creative today i thought lets get it back in action. i gave myself one day, no power from the house(cordless ok)and i could only use what i had. i was thinking that this would be like if things are going funny outside, i had to hole up for a day or two. my personally, would be checking things and low and behold, i see something i want to bring with me and it needs some love before it is going anywhere.

Sarcrificed item
1.leather belt
2.wool sock
3.tupperware container
4.bladder off of my goose
5.alunimun arrow

Supplies used.
1.extra heavy duty waxed thread
2.heavy duty waxed thread
3.bagpipe hemp thread
4.ballistic nylon thread
5.3 18'' pieces of surgical tube
6.beer bottle cap
7.small mortitions needle
8.swedish fire steel
9.small laminated steel frosts mora
10.para cord
11.hot glue
12.garbage bag ties
13fletch tite
14.key chain ring

to start, the mini mag light. it has good batteries, with a beer bottle cap on top to protect and seal off the lense. held on with a dab of hot glue. a wingspan worth of ballistic nylon, tailed hot glued on top, the rest wrapped below the car, prethreaded onto the mortitions needle, which fit s almost perfectly around the flashlight. i braided the surgical tube wrapped it over the end and whipped it onto the flash light. i lashed it onto the sheath, as this will only be used in an emergency, four cuts and it falls off, and stays contained.

my fire steel is attached using the garbage bag ties, which are whipped and fletch tited onto the belt to keep them from falling off.

the small knife was originally going to get a carved rubber sheath, but it was a little dangerous working the rubber, and treating this as a survival situation, did not want to hurt myself. if i cut up the new belts my gf fot my, i would not survive either, so , the leaky goose got cooked. i put some time into the sheath, five layers with the knive outline cut out of the center one. i made a 'canoe' with no tail, flethc tited the threads, then sealed the inside with hot glue. i stitched the bottom and front, tucked the knive inside and stitched the top. i also whipped the stress points on the sheath as well, and lashed it to the harness using holes in the belt.

i made a pouch for the aluminum handles and the bow string on the back, and whipped it on.

to spread the weight out, i used the bottom of the tupperware container and ran my leg strap through for comfort.

it is not the prettiest thing, but, it is what i came up with, it would have brought a tool back into order, and it would have gave me time to see what is happening out there.
Now, do you have something that needs some love, something you might want to bring with you. one day, only use what you have in the house and no power(cordless ok).
i will put up pictures once they are downloaded

i also plan on finding some fatwood at some point, carve it into the shape of the now unused pockets in the sheath and store them below the firesteel

Read your post and checked out the photo's several times and I've thoroughly enjoyed them! It looks like you put a in a lot of thought and effort and I hope you had fun doing it. I've never seen the trick with the bottle cap before now. From the front it looks okay.

From the back...what in the hell were you smoking...and where can I get some? :D:D

acutally the items at the back put the handle of my kukri at the perfect angle, clearance if i need it fast around the pack strap, yet close enough that stalking, or moving through the bush, and getting around branches and obstacles without getting caught up. i also wrapped para-cord very tightly around the rig to check for pressure sores, or pinch points, as long as i have a base layer on(shouldn't be a problem, don't plan on bathing with it) i don't believe there to be a problem. again, i did n't have a plan, i just worked with it as it devoleped, i'm planing on using it as is, and fixing or changing the rig as time goes on.
