i was at 'my favorite' pawn shop/antique store (fantastic guy:))today...
he has a 1 1/4 lb LL bean boys axe with the original handle; all are in good shape... the head is marked; LL Bean, Bangor Maine...

im a bit troubled... ---i did not buy it---what do you fellows think its worth?

BTW... the poll is clean with only a 'bit' of mushrooming... the haft is nice, it only needs some oil...

what say you...?

Frick man, what are you thinking!!!!???? Buy that SOB!!!

Then send it to me!!!

I'm just joking a bit with you, bear. I don't really know. It must be made by S&N. If it was made prior to them moving forging offshore, then you should definitely snatch it up. How much does the dude want for it?

yes you are right... i think...

i do believe that it was made by S&N in the good ol' USA... the stamp is an old USA stamp...

$14.95...

but, i go in there quite a bit... so i may be able to get the 'good guy' discount...

walk out... 12 bucks...

It depends on what it exactly says - and if it is just print, or logo as well. Easily worth $50 if in good shape.

DUDE--BUY IT! Old S&N's are good stuff and you can't go wrong for that kind of money.

I live in the heart of hillbilly hell and ain't much for yankee axes in these parts and I see them on e pray now and again and a 13 to 15 inch hatchet will hit 50 to 75 if they ain't a fighting fer it.

you got nice deal, even if it don't need to much of a make over.

And the next deal like this, when you make it to the door after the purchase run like heck so they can't change their mind.

thanks guys... im going to buy it next week when i go into town...

i thought it was a nice find... funny thing is, is that the guy collects axes... humm!!!

bear,
you can't go wrong , the handle even as a second cost $7.00 A grade would be $15.00
