I would like to say thank you to my friend Stephen, for yet another extreme act of generosity, as well as a bit of sneakiness. Some of you may remember some gifted knives and coins between the two of us, in the past. Every so often, when we chatted via PM, he would mention that he owed me a coin, but, he would offer up a knife and I caught on to his tricks. He was holding out on sending the coin he thought he owed me, just so he could sneak in a knife.

Well he knows that I am enchanted by the Charlows, especially the long pull ones. One night he offers to gift me a smooth ivory bone Sheep Foot Charlow and I had just purchased quite a few, but, stated that I might be interested in buying it from him. He starts up all kinds of excuses as to why he would rather just give it to me. I don't quite remember exactly how the conversation ended, but, I think I just said maybe I will buy it later if you still have it or something to that effect.
Some time went by and about a week ago, I took a group picture of my Charlows and posted them on the forum. I got a PM that night and he reminded me that I had no smooth ivory bone in my collection and that he would like to send his to me. I thought about it and decided he was not going to be happy until I had that knife he wanted me to have. He also mentioned that he still owed me a coin and wanted to send that as well. I agreed to the knife and coin and he mentioned he would mail it late last week.
What he did not know is that I had a little plan for him, but, what I did not know was that he was going to sneak another knife in my package.
:grumpy:
Well - I show you now the contents of my package:
I was stunned by the beauty of every piece in that box - the smooth ivory bone Charlow, an old India Steel works John Primble with beautiful bone handles, and a fantastic old Morgan Silver Dollar from 1901, with wonderful patina.

As I marveled over the beauty, I suddenly realized that I had been blinded by all the bling. He had planned to send that Primble, all along.
:grumpy:
I thought back immediately to how he posted that old Primble knife as his tote knife, two days running! He was testing the waters and as I thought back about my replies, I was convinced that he was laughing out of his chair - that day!
:grumpy:
I actually cannot find the proper words to describe how much I like the gifts, but, Stephen knows, I believe, that we would be good friends without any of these gifts being passed. We both have similar taste in knives and I am pretty certain that we have most likely bidded against one another, on a knife, in the past.
Well - the way I see it, I now owe Stephen two coins and I have my excuse to send him something that I had been saving up for him. But because he sneaked that Primble knife in my box, he can't stop me now and Primble has been known to be a little sneaky himself !!

Thank you , my friend ! These knives will always remain in my possesion and be cherished!!
