A "single edge" push knife in NYC/NYS?

With all the new variations of hunting and skinning knives available, I was talking to some folks who use small single edge push knives for their field dressing when hunting, in New York State. I always thought the push style knives were illegal in NYC/NYS even if they were only single edged.

Would this be questioned on a hunting trip?

Thanks.

That's a good question. Technically NYS penal code doesn't mention push knives specifically but they almost certainly fall under the "dangerous knife" wording should you be frisked. Carried while hunting they'd likely be OK, Under your shirt while drinking at a bar afterward, probably not. Hopefully someone better informed can chime in. If they don't have a full "T" handle, but some variation that allows a number of grips then it would be difficult for LE to make the "dangerous knife" claim.

Inside NYC possession of just about any knife might be considered unlawful should you be frisked, designs that allow a palm-reinforced grip especially so.

Never thought about an Ulu, good question. Regarding carrying in NYC, absolutely not. Only transported to or from hunting. However, I have never seen one without the "T" handle.

ya, I've seen 2 styles of ulu mainly

the t handle style and the ones like these
