Greetings all,

Here's a peek at the latest work by Russ Andrews - a lean and quick stag bowie:

orig.jpg

The blade is just over 10" of 1084, very distally tapered and balanced about 1/8" ahead of the guard. The swedge is thin, but not sharp. Guard, ferrule and cap are 416 SS, and cap is threaded to tang.

No, it's not mine. :(

Russ' customer specified a Rowe sheath, so this beauty is on her way to Kenny.

Cheers,

Roger

Lean and mean, just how I like 'em!And the long clip, oh man, that is just so nice,is it Sambar?I been fallin' in love with them stag handled ones lately. The 8 inch or around 8 inch bladed ones are killer but those 10 inch and beyond real deals really squeeze my trigger.
Roger,Not blowin' any air up yer' 'arse,I just wanna' thank you for posting the pics you do.You have access to more fine knives than most of us do,speaking for myself anywho.Thank you for all the pics.

Any chance we could see a pic(s) of your Bailey Bradshaw before the end of the year?I have never seen it and would love to. :o

Hey leatherbird,

I believe it is sambar. Russ got a couple of carvers in and is doing the right thing by making bowies out of them :)

Roger

PS - Which Bradshaw did you want to see?

The one in your avatar,I believe it's called the Grapes of Wrath, maybe. As if anyone would decline seeing any Bailey Bradshaw.Thanks!~Doug. :)

Hey everyone, take note.
That is what a Neo-Classic Bowie knife is supposed to look like..

Great job Russ!

Good to go! I love the taper of that handle and how it is matched at the choil. As it should be...... :)

More fighter than Bowie to me. Either way, I'd hope I was at the grippy end of that knife.

Thanks for posting!

Hi Roger,

I thought Russ was a mastersmith not a JS. His work is as good as most masters that I know.

Russ has to get his pattern welded steel down pat before he can take his Mastersmith test. Maybe I should get him to make my knife from pattern welded steel to give him some practice.

Thanks for all the comments, They're much appreciated.
The grip IS Sambar, I lucked into some recently.

My photo skills dont show the hamon, but it actually
looks fairly decent. Reminds me of the desert.

MS? Not yet, but one day, I hope.

Thanks Again

To me, that is what a Bowie should look like. Thanks, Roger. And especially thank you Russ.

This beauty is now at home with the rest of his brothers here in Montana.Been looking forward to this one for a while.Russ makes one of the best knives in the world.
Thanks for all the comments.
Thank you Russ.:) :) :) :)

Looks like another superb addition to the Montana Bowie Foundation :D

Russ's work always impresses me and his FnF is amongst the best MS or not. We will be talking later next year ;) I am really looking forward to it.
