A small warning about Chicago Screws and my removable dangler.

I was hiking this weekend. I got back to camp - leaned over - and felt my knife hit the ground.

The Chicago screw had backed itself out. I have not had this happen nor heard of it happening before with my sheaths.

I want you all to add some thread sealer to not only your Chicago Screws but your removable dangler "D rings".

I would advise something like Blue Loc-tite #242.

Just wanted to send out out a word on this one.

That has happened to some of my Danglers before. Thanks for bringing it to everyones attention.

I think what happens is this: I use a drill chucked with a drill bit to tighten it down into the leather. The leather compresses and the fitting is held tight. Over time the leather compresses and loosens a bit.

I would just like everyone to be aware of it and take precautions. I will be using Loc-Tite from here on out.

Yeah, just a little dot of blue loc-tite solves it all. Sometimes if the screw is removed or bumped it can still work loose though. Just another dab should solve it though.

I know this does not belong in this thread. I sent you a PM. Looking to have a sheath made. Love your work. Let me know if you have the time.

Thanks Tal; I usually do put a touch of blue loctite on my fasteners. Just makes sense.

So true..Just this week I noticed a screw coming loose on one of my danglers and did the same thing.
