So I have, had, the Droid 3. It is and was a great phone and I never had any problems with it other than a bug here and there that were soon resolved anyway. Today I pullout my phone to answer a text and slide up the screen to reveal the keyboard and then I notice the screen is very dull and appears like the backlight is off. After checking all my setting and finding them still as they should be, and turning my phone off battery out and turning it back on, it comes on still dull and not lit. At this point I'm annoyed, minutes later still annoyed I smell something burning, I look at the crack between the base keyboard and screen slip up and theres lights and smoke coming out. I took the battery out now that Ive had more time to mess with it, it still works though I dont open the keyboard, the backlight still dose not work but if you hold it in the right light you can navigate it. I finally got everything as backed up as I can on my computer. I just hooked it up to the computer and copied the whole file that showed up as the phones memory, and I just took my sd card out to that had other things on it, atleast I have all my pictures.
So I have come to ask if anyone knows of a way not to lose all my apps when I switch to the replacement refurbished phone. Some I have now have been taken off the market, and others I got off amazon apps.
Also beware sliding phones, not all mess up, but they can.
