First of all forget the scabbard. I destroyed it myself. It was a tight fit and I ran the tip of the khukuri through the back of the scabbard trying to get the khukuri back into the sheath. So, this is khukuri, karda and chakma offering only.

This khukuri is made and marked by Kumar, a Gelbu Special blade with the snow leopard handle carved by our young Newari craftsman whose name I forgot and a snow leopard engraved on the blade, right side about mid blade by Bhimsen. The khukuri is 21 inches overall length and weighs about 1.75 pounds -- pretty light and very nicely balacned. The fit and finish on this khukuri is just about perfect and it is hardened to about 60 Rc in the chopping area. Excellently done and with a pinned handle that should stay put no matter what.

The karda and chakma are excellently done.

We will deliver khukuri, karda and chakma to your door for $100 with no scabbard. You can make one yourself or see what Terry Sisco will charge to make one for you. But this is a still a lot of knife for $100 and there is not another in the world like it.

Call or email if interested.

They must all be eating Bill! I don't need such a thing or at least I need the money more. I did want to say you got a nice sharp close-up in the bottom picture. Did you change technique or equipment?

Gregg

** Good thing I didn't want it! James jumped on it. At least we can look forward to some beautiful scans.

shucks, does that mean I missed out on this one?

Oh well, guess I need to practice emailing faster..

Just as well, I dont have a scabbard to go with it at the moment anyhow.. :-p

Congratulations, James. You have a very nice khukuri. It looks to be almost a twin of my own Snow Leopard Millennium Special. I would strongly suggest having Terry Sisco do a new scabbard for this khukuri.

James, is that the famous cat who likes to walk on your fax machine? Back before Christmas when I had a gliched order to Chai Cutlery, the cat was the chief suspect.

Seriously Uncle Bill, that second picture is a much sharper close-up than you usually get. Did you do something different?

Say Bro.
I got to thinking, yeah, dangerous I know, but you can take a lighter blue bath towel and put under your khukuri's and other offerings for the piece of material.
That's what I use, it's easily washed when needed and makes a great background.
You might experiment with something you have on hand. White is to little a contrast with the steel and browns, reds, etc would interfere with the woods & horn.
Evenan old sheet will work. It doesn't have to be a piece of satin or velvet,(VBEG)

Fantastic! I love it ... the blade model, the length & the weight!

James ... don't you ever think of testing the sharpness of your Snow Leopard to your beautiful pet! Please ...

NEPAL HO!

Don't worry! The cat's a keeper!

We did get a bigger monitor for her since I took that picture. And without her, who could I blame glitches on?

I had been looking at that Hanuman khukuri, thinking "Nice! High-quality usable ethnic art!" And I had pondered a bit that I couldn't think if a loophole in my rule book that would let me buy a "graven image" of a Hindu deity (I can respect and learn from other traditions, but there are levels at which I can't participate in them), and I wondered if I could order one with a snow leopard or something, if I could conjure up a good excuse ....

And behold! I click onto the H.I. Forum again, when I jolly well have real life work to do, and there it is!
