A solution to knife testing?

I have been thinking lately how to test a certain knife, steel, blade shape or handle. I have come to some conclusion, that my teenager would be better at testing it than I. For instance he would use it for digging, prying, cutting who knows what and all around almost abuse. This solves my problem because he would use it for things I would not. I gave him a razor sharp CS Voyager and what do you know he asked me to sharpen it a week later. When I went to sharpened it, it was gouged, nicked and rolled all along the edge. I asked what have you been doing with it? His answer nothing just using it. Of course later I found out what he'd been doing. I had numerous tin cans sliced and diced, trees skinned, bows and arrows cut from said trees. You name it he did it. To my surprise the Voyager took it and re-sharpened faily easy with little or no alteration of blade shape. The Handle was in good shape and the only "play" int the knife was a slight vertical play. I was impressed. So what do you guys think? Thanks.

One of the great things about giving knives to people with no restrictions on use is that they will do pretty much everything which can lead to some rather interesting observations.

Cliff is a master of testing knives to their limits:D

I was hoping Cliff would stop by. I know CS gets slack around here but their older line was great for EDC. Do you know the hardness of the AUS8 they were using? I ask because I have a Ontario RAT-1 folder and their AUS8 steel takes a keen edge and doesn't loose it readily. I reall ylike the RAT-1 fit and finish are excellant and I guess most people would diss the AUS8 blade but it slices superb and easily sharpens. Thanks for the comments.:D
