Hi All,

My girlfriend brought this stuff home from the fabric store and I thought I'd pass it along for everyone who wants to keep the brass/silver on their khukris nice and bright. I think anyone with a BirGorkha Kothimoda would really appreciate this stuff.

It's a material called Kenized Silver Shield. The brochure explains it as a, "...Specially treated 100% cotton flannel...which acts as a natural barrier to tarnish-producing elements; sulphur, salts, caustic elements, and gasses in the air."
Even museums use it to store & protect their collections.

It runs about $6.99/yd. (48" wide roll) at your local fabric store--my girlfriend got the brochure at JoAnn Fabrics.

P.S. Here's the webpage of the company that makes the stuff: www.fifieldfabrics.com

Thanks for the tip. I like my using khuk. to have a patina to it. But the others I like mint.

Thanks for the tip, Chris. I'll be getting some for the very purpose you mentioned -- to use with my Kothimoda.

One last thing.

For you guys who buy this product and can't get ahold of the brochure:

--Make sure you don't use a rubber band to hold the material around your khukri (rubber causes tarnish)

--Sulphur causes tarnishing, if you line a box with it, make sure you use a sulphur-free glue

--Don't wash the fabric, and make sure what you store is clean and dry
