It was 1970. Her name was Kathy. The full name was Mae Katherine.
"My Girl" by the Temptations was getting a lot of radio plays in those days.
When we were out in my car (a 1969 Olds 442, gray with a thin red pinstripe) and the song came on, I would sing along but would substitute "Mae K." for "My girl". Fortunately she married me in spite of that, 48 years ago.
