My three sons ganged up on me this year telling me that they each wanted a knife for their birthday. I posted a large bowie a couple of months ago that went to one son, the second son chose an ulu and got away with it before I could take photos but here is the last one going to my oldest son who requested a fillet knife.
I forged and ground this one very thin from 5160 for a flexible blade and it appears that my heat treating recipe is working well because it flexes nicely and holds a good edge. (I love 5160).
My revenge for their demands was that I was consistently 2-3 months late with each of their gifts.

that's a great looking knife

Received this one at deer camp last weekend, pics don't do it justice! G.L. definitely has his heat treat down perfectly, just enough spring in the blade to finesse with the tip and it "disassembled" a whitetail into bite-sized pieces without needing sharpening until the very end (and that was only because I was slicing out the steaks!) I see this knife being used by generations of hunters and fishers to come.
