When I was at Bill's the other week he had just finished up a very interesting knife for none other than Bob Furusho.

It is forged from a blend of steel Bill smelted many years ago and is the last of it.

It has a 12 inch blade and a hand carved birds head handle of Cocobolo. The only birds head Bill can recall doing out of this wood.

Bill carried this knife on the Buffalo outing and we took some good pics for Bob.

Congrats Bob on another fine rare knife for your collection

Wouldn't that knife look good with case hardened fittings to match that Sharps?!

really nice... Thats my favorite of the "birds head" grips ive seen, normally im not a big fan of them, this one I think really looks nice and everything flows/balances well.

Another beauty with a storied past for Bob's collection.
Did anybody say cool yet ?
Thanks, Joe !

Hello Joe I am sending some pics of the special melt bowies taken today as a follow up to those grand shots you and Bill sent to me and posted in that recent thread (big thanks!). The HB that went on your Bison hunt has a great deal of power when maneuvered yet remains deft and very much controllable in hand, thanks to Bill's handle design criteria. The stag bowie in the middle is lighter in hand but still retains the tenacity of edge holding for which special melt steel provides. Lastly is my first spl melt bowie from 1988 when Bill debuted it. It is one of my oldest Bagwells and is a reminder of what lengths Bill goes to in order to provide a truly exceptional weapon for we lucky few. I 'd like to add my congratulations to Joe's successful hunt and prowess! I was moved to include my 1886 Browning 45/70, El Paso Saddlery Rifle scabbard and 500 grain fodder. This high grade model even has a gold buffalo on it! I am gratified for all the kind words from every one (Pootsy, Doug C, Paul Long.) to name a few. Sincerely, Bob Furusho
