My mother came out for 2 weeks to help with the new baby and she's leaving tomorrow. While here, she did all the housework, cooking and taking care of the kid....and most of it...;)...with a smile.

I think she deserves a lil' something special and this is what I came up with.

Enjoy!

Nice chiruwa style full tang handle, Dan! :D Very nice. I bet your Mom was smiling when she received this!

Very nice indeed! :cool: Ya gotta love a dishwasher-safe hand-made. :D What are the dimensions?

Thanks, guys.

Some knives are fun to make and when you can give it away to someone special - makes it even better.

She doesn't have it yet, by the way....gotta go find a box now....we have to leave for the airport in 3 hours.....:eek:

:p

One of these days, I'll order a custom kitchen knife from you, Dan.

Maybe when you catch up in a couple years! :D

Got my box, lined it with foam and blue velveteen...did I mention blue being my mother's favorite color? :D :p

Showed it to her right after lunch. She was floored. She had been watching me make it all this time. (the blade was done a while back - but I glued up the handle this week). She was asking questions, and looking, commenting, etc. - never knowing it was hers....:D

She immediately picked it up and began to use it...and with authority...! Sometimes its easy to forget just how much time she has spent in the kitchen....once I saw that knife in her hand...it all came rushing back...:eek:

Anyway, she really liked it. Made me feel good too. Not that I was worried....:rolleyes: :footinmou

Jon = :D :p :p :p

Now make a Keen Koster Kleaver and send it to munk to test. ( Moms are too sentimental to do what must be done for a proper workout of the knife. )

I'm sure that munk will do a thorough job of it.

PS: remind me to review the seax kitchen karving knife when I have a chance.
