Today the Endura 4 I ordered arrived, and I immediately began field testing.
More about that and my initial impressions in a moment. See this thread for reference : http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432983

I had also added a Native III to the order and since the retailer happened to have a PE SS Native II in stock I bought that as well.
The Native III I ordered for a gift to give to the neighbor's son who did me a real favor last month when he picked me up from the dentist's office after root canal surgery. I was advised not to drive for several hours due to the lingering effects of the anesthesia. I wanted to get a little something for him to show my appreciation for his kindness, as he wouldn't accept any money for gas. I am VERY impressed with the Native III.....I own a regular Native but have never examined the III model "up close and personal"......some very nice design changes...I especially liked the 3-D handle, new blade shape, and wire clip. I was able to drop it by and give it to my neighbor's son this afternoon....he was thrilled. The only thing as pleasant and satisfying as getting a new Spyderco is giving one as a gift. !
The SS Native II PE is the "bees knees"......I bought a SS Cara Cara several month ago, and while a terrific knife in all respects I found it just too heavy for EDC.....this all stainless Native II is perfect.....and I consider myself fortunate to have found one with a plain edge ! Did you all get I couldn't be more happy ? :D

Now on to the the new Endura 4. Right out of the box the dang thing was as sharp as a new razor blade. Earlier in the day I went down to the fisherman's terminal and bought a whole salmon so I got right to work with new Endura 4.
I like to purchase my fish whole on occasion as they are a better buy, and after I fillet and bone out the flesh I simmer the remains for stock to use in cioppino and fish stew.
The Endura 4 was exceptionally efficient....the blade was plenty long enough to slice along one side, then the other, to fillet. And remember I took issue with the design change of the Endura 4 regarding the loss of the "needle" point...a non-issue as the new Endura had plenty of effective point penetration. I was able to change grip positions quickly and effectively when necessary to accommodate efficient cutting...and that little bit of extra weight in the handle (due to the addition of nested steel liners) made for great balance, "feel" and "communication" between knife and user....with no fatigue !
When I finished, the knife blade was still as sharp as when I began working with the fish.

The Endure 4 is a great knife.......and the improvements over the earlier model make for a very ergonomic, comfortable, and most importantly, effective folding knife ! Well done....Spyderco !

I didn't think you would be disappointed.

Where did you find the PE SS Native? I really want one of those.
