A Spyderco in a Pear Tree? Christmas and other holiday gifts?

My wife and kids go crazy trying to find stuff to buy me for Christmas every year. I generally buy stuff I need throughout the year as I need/want them.

So my wife and kids asked me to put together a big list of knives and knife related gear I want as I have enough logo-ed Maple Leaf and Blue Jay gear to last a lifetime.... as well as ties, cuff links, socks, DVDs, books, etc.

My Spyderco list included a PM2 (in a few steel options), an Endura 4, a Pacific Salt and a SharpMaker. I also added a BM Bugout and a ZT0350 to give them some variety, but I expect a Sharpmaker and a couple of Spydies.

So, did you ask for any knife related gear for Christmas (or Hanukkah, Kwanza or any other holiday you celebrate) this year?

I've sworn off making Christmas lists. Always seemed more like a really crappy way to go shopping than a genuine gift. I'd be stoked to get anything from Spyderco though.

The lock screen on the desktop in the living room has been slyly set to a photo of a GB Bowie as well. We'll see how that plays out. Lol.

Subliminal messages, eh? Haha. That may just work.

My brother actually got me my first Spyderco for Christmas a few years back. That blacked out Tenacious started me down a long and expensive path of Spyderco knives.

I have a standing order in for anyone interested in getting me a gift for any occasion for a Case Toothpick or Tiny Toothpick, a lifetime of color options and a wide range of prices.

If not no worries.

I, within reason, buy myself what I want throughout the year if I feel like I've gotta have it, but I keep a list of items that aren't must haves or needs, but good gift ideas for me since I have more than one person that demand some sort of list around the holidays. This year it was the Para 3 and Benchmade Bugout although I removed the Bugout since everyone's funds are limited and there are other things I'd rather have, and if I choose one it's the Para 3. First Spyderco I will have gotten as a gift so here's hoping I like it.

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a Tenacious. Hoping it's the black combo blade with tan handles.

My wife bought me a new Chaparral LW for Christmas. It was shipped via USPS, routed around the USA, then to Taipei, Malaysia, Canada, several locations in New York, and then back to the dealer. It circumnavigated the globe without stopping anywhere long, and never got to me. Good grief!

Edit for correction: The knife is still showing it is in New York after a week long stay, there. It has not arrived at my home, nor gone back to the dealer. It has had a nice trip around the world, however.

Since I have been VERY good this year:D, Santa already got me a Mule in CPM-20CV and a Para 2, plus he threw in a nice paring knife for my wife.

My wonderful wife bought me a KW green/cts204p Military.

I talked her into letting me inspect it for defects (fondle it :) )when it arrived.

Now it is wrapped under the tree and I can't have it till Christmas morning.:(

I asked a loving but not-knife-educated family member for a knife, thinking they'd give me cash or a card to go get me a Lil Nilakka flash batch.... Instead I got a S&W combo tanto :D:rolleyes:

If I asked my girlfriend for a knife she would probably just say you have too many, I mean they are everywhere and honestly there’s more important stuff I need. I did just buy myself a beretta 92 two tone for Christmas so thats a win, I needed a chair so she bought me one with an ottoman which is really nice. My mom kept asking me what I wanted and I stumbled across a laser engraver so it should be a fun Christmas!!!!

So my wife and I agreed not to buy each other gifts this year as we have three kids and this is the first year that we got them really nice gifts. They are 8, 6 and 2. The two older ones havent gotten any expensive presents before this year.

I still wanted to get my wife something so I did. When she sees it under the tree she is going to be upset that I broke the pact and because she will feel bad about not getting me a gift.

What she doesnt know is that she bought me a left handed Spyderco Military! I will wrap it and place it under the tree from santa to me! Hahahahaha. I will give her her gift. She will be happy and irritated at the same time and then I will say “what’s this? Oh you shouldnt have!” as pull my spydie out from under the tree!

That’s awesome! I’d be in the hospital on Christmas Day if I pulled that on my wife!!

That’s great.

I still enjoy getting the odd gift, but it really is all about the kids and family at my place. During lean years, my wife and I have gone without just to make sure we can make the kids happy and have a nice dinner for our Griswold-esqe Family Christmas. There is always money for booze though as it sure helps get thru the holidays with the inlaws.
