Sal -- am curious to know how you come up with the names for your knives?

Did you name the Military as such because of the possibility of your son/daughter being drafted into the Military?

How about the Police, Endura, Delica, Calypso, etc.?

Thanks for any response!

Titan - Sometimes "purpose driven" like the Military & Police. Sometimes seeking a manufactured name for identification like the Endura & Delica. Sometimes just a nice sound like the Calypso. Sometimes we search the "bugs"; Dragonfly or Ladybug. Sometimes we just go through the dictionary. Sometimes we use the feature like Remote Release and Snap-it. Keeping a "drafty brain" (opened mind) is required at Spyderco. Being a little nuts helps also.

Thanks for the reply.

I prefer manufacturers giving names to their models, rather than numbers only.

Hey, I have a very original (duh?) suggestion: maybe next time we can have a "name-that-new-Spydie-model-knife-and-win-it" contest!

I just received my May 99 issue of Blade Magazine (thanks, MM!) and in one article it was mentioned that the Police was previously named as PIG -- for Pride, Guts, Integrity. Sounds Emerson-like, for my taste... I like the Police better!
