Well, it looks like it's finally happening, and congratulations to Bladite!

The stickies are coming.

Just looking at the outline Bladite has up so far, it looks like a lot of work. Fortunately, he's a "Gentleman of leisure," and has the time for an undertaking of this magnitude.

We all owe Bladite a vote of thanks for undertaking this task. It's going to make things better for all of us.

Thanks, Bladite.

Well, I'll be waiting to see what you come up with. I'm not going to hold my breath, though — I hate it when I turn purple and die of asphyxiation.:D What you're doing is a pretty big project, and could take awhile.

Thanks for taking this on.

"Gentleman of Leisure" = best name subtext ever

It's a great euphemism, Spooky, for those of us who are retired or unemployed. "Gentleman of Leisure" sounds so much better than "old fart with nothing to do," or "guy without a job."

In my case, I'm a retired "Gentleman of Leisure." In Bladite's case, well, who knows?

"just got GOLed" is an often used phrase in my group of friends and industry...

right now, i'm definitely not at leisure, as i have a lot of study i want to do, and knowledge to pickup ... as well as collate all the Becker stuff i have into a large set of chunks... the better to serve our community :> it's a good thing i'm between consulting gigs.

the Becker FAQ will be get a lot of material up fast, and then be a long work in progress.

It's a good thing you're doing, bro, and a lot of work. My hat's off to you for taking this on.

i'm doin it for the free play and wimmins :)

ain't afraid of no work, just afraid of the other playas :>

Wimmins? There are wimmins involved? Oh, man ... some guys have all the fun!:D

last two camping events i went to, and was batoning stuff for the fire, it was like Tom Sawyer without trying... people wanted to know what i was doing, and then they wanted to do it. mostly women as it turns out.

using an axe works too, but they wanted something with less of a learning curve to get results NOW. very practical i think. axes require a lot more concentration and energy too.

the TacTool got the most interest, because they had never seen anything like it, and it's practically unkillable (and non-threatening?). the MachAxe got some looks, and some folks really liked it, but being told they couldn't buy one, well, didn't help :)

many hands make light work

Bladite

Especially when you can get the wimmins to do the work while you relax. We're on to you, Bladite.

if you consider using the two sizes of Fiskars splitting axes to be relaxation :) i even volunteer to go over to friend's houses and split wood. it's a good hobby.

but seriously, anything i can do to subversively encourage people to learn skills, i'm all over it :)

I'm all for encouraging people to learn skills, and I've encouraged/taught a few myself.

Still, I'm all for getting the wimmins to do the work while I watch. I'm a lazy old guy: what can I say?
