I met Luciano Dorneles by the first time last December at the SPKS 2000. At the time, I though he had some interesting stuff on his table but was so busy I just couldn't pay much more atention.
Today I received a box from him with this nice friction folder and its amazing sheath.
This folder's 4 1/2" blade and hardware - backstrap, bait and the shield where is his mark, "BÚFALO" - are damascus steel forged by the maker. The handle is stag artifially aged.
Its sheath - wich is also made by the artisan - is a work of art by itself, fully embellished in a frontier style and can be worn in the belt or on the neck. It perfectly matches the folder style.
Not bad for someone who is been making knives for a very short while - some two years, I think - and is practically self taught.
Let me know what you think.
