A Surprise from Benchmade

So I ordered the Benchmade Bone Collector Lock-Back Folder on a whim. I had recently returned some traditional lock-backs that had shoddy fit and finish (a Buck, Case, and GEC) and thought I would give this one a shot. Let me say I am very pleased with my purchase. The fit and finish is superb. The lock-up is tight with no blade play in any direction. I was not prepared for how thick the blade is (it's 3mm at the spine), it certainly seems like it could handle some hard use especially since it is D2 steel. It also came very sharp. Oh, and it looks great...

Yeah, I love the look of that knife but the Bone Collector logo just turns me off. If it didn't have that logo I'd buy one.

Everyone I see out and about that has a Bone Collector logo on their car or truck look like complete inbred idiots or "hicks". Not what I'd like to be associated with.

These are excellent little knives. Rock solid, comfortable to use and well finished.

Beautiful knife!

I wish it had a thumb stud but it looks like a great knife. Congrats!

I want one in Micarta. Great D2 blade and shaped for heavy use, this smaller version is terrific.

+4 I agree, at least to the first part of the statement. Kinda tacky rather than classy imho. Sometimes i question BM's designers.

+5 I don't get the bone collector marketing branding on any knife or hunting gear.I wonder if Benchmade thinks that the branding will sell more knives?I scratch my head...The knife is beautiful and would like to send my father one for his birthday.I wonder if he will notice or even know what Bone collector is?????

IMO, the rest of the knives good points over weigh that one drawback.

It's good that so many are voicing their displeasure with the branding, hopefully Benchmade takes note. For the record, I am not fond of the HK, BC, or the now retired HD branding either. It seems silly for a great company like Benchmade, although I understand the reasoning from a business perspective.

Dose this knife have a half stop? The large lockback is supposed to have a half stop which is a bummer. I was hoping to put a qwik thumb stud on one of the large lockbacks.

Yes it does, it's fairly light but it is definitely there.

Yeah, Benchmade is classy enough to drop the HD brand and BC brand. I think it makes them look cheap.

Funny thing guys, that logo does not get in the way when cutting! haha. Seriously, I never heard of (still don't know who he is or what it's all about) the Bone Collector man, I know I wanted that slick AXIS folder in d2 with opening hole in an awesome blade profile. I've seen pics of blades that have been somehow sterilized FWIW.

"AXIS folder?"
Add that to this knife and I might get over the branding.:D
