Today I was bowled over to receive a package from Duane (Sitflyer). As well as a lovely handwritten letter and some interesting coins, it contained this incredible small fixed-blade, which the great man had made himself from an old and lovingly used RH Forschner Victorinox Chef’s Knife. Taking the knife, which had helped to create many thousands of meals, Duane slowly and carefully ground it to shape, and then added pinned slabs of osage orange wood. These photos, taken on my kitchen table this evening, really don’t do this beautiful knife justice. With the blade is a well-designed and carefully made pocket sheath, which holds the knife very securely. What an absolute joy to be sent something that a friend has made with their own hands. Duane, I am extremely grateful.

As if this beauty was not enough, Duane also included an old discontinued Buck knife in 440C, which is a great size for EDC, and a wee Italian-made gent’s knife with a single blade and file. I’m absolutely bowled over by your thoughtfulness and kindness Duane, and will always think of you when I carry these knives. Many thanks my friend.

My apologies folks, for the poor quality of the pics, but you’ll certainly be seeing more of these knives in the weeks, months, and years to come.

Jack

Please also accept my apologies for having to post this a sentence or two at a time. I don’t know what the problem was, but I wasn’t able to post. I spent 5 hours trying to post it last night and a good while this morning, as per the original text:[Sorry this is an incomplete post, I'm having difficulties posting - See http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1060245 - Will try to get it finished ASAP]

Jack, check you image size isn't too big...that's if you are posting direct.

Failing that, email me and I'll give it a whirl

Thanks mate, it wasn't that, I couldn't even post the first paragraph! Hoping it's not an ongoing problem.

That's a great bundle Jack, congrats.

Duane, you are a gent....nice work on the wee fixed blade too.

Awesome stuff guys, just fantastic sitflyer - that's a fantastic, meaningful package...well done to you Sir!, and to you jack - well, how many threads are going now thanking you??...tells the type of guy you are Sir.

This small knife turned out great Duane and giving it away shows a lot about your generosity. Congrats jack for having such meaningful gift.

I'll second Duane's generosity as well, I have three Boy Scouts who are proud owners of their own pocket knives thanks to him!

Ve-ry cool, Jack. I'm sorry about your posting frustrations; thanks for sticking with it.

Way to go, sitflyer, once again. Nicely done. :)

I was tickled pink when you told me that you liked the wee FB Jack :)
After posting the box I realised that I didn't have a pic of the knife with its "parent" ;)
so I will show you here the blade from whence your new companion came...

Used professionally for years by me, now with a 7 3/4" cutting edge, it still shines in my kitchen.
Enjoy, my friend, the pleasure is all mine ;)

Great knives, Jack! Each of this knives is extremely useful. I´m sure, you´re gonna like it and it will serve you well.

Great gesture, Duane! You are one of the best ... :)
