A Swag-filled Week

The brown truck has been busy delivering to my house this week. I got all kinds of good things going.

First, I got my Machax...

I also got my super-badass 5.11 Rush 24 pack. This is by far the coolest pack I've ever owned. I normally live with a backpack at all times. It's, well...it's my manpurse, really. I carry one everywhere, and the Rush 24 is the first one I've ever bought that had virtually every feature I could want. I never would have bought a 5.11 pack without the ringing endorsements of Clich and Captain Airyca, so thanks, you two, for showing me the way.

Holds my Glock mags, pens, a flashlight, and a Glock 26 in the front compartment. And there are still pouches I haven't used in there yet.

Lots of pockets and pouches.

I got my factory zytel scales for my BK-14, and today my AZWelke sheath came for the same knife. The scales are very comfortable, but they need stippling and a short paracord fob added. Still, this is a great EDC package. Very nice.

Finally, I got my new camera, a Nikon S4000, which I'm using shamelessly right now. I really need to RTFM. I can't figure out the touch screen and other goodies at all.
 
I have a ton of swag coming in....but none this week LOL So Im jealous! Next week should be a great week tho!

Im liking the Rush packs more and more...have a couple sitting in My Cart. Nice looking micarta on the 4!

Been a swag week for me as well, couple knives, one being my Bk4, and a sweet 1000' spool of OD green paracord, I was getting low. Been looking at a pack and that one looks nice, darn another in the running.
 
waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit your pack looks different than mine. it's better. That front pouch is designed different. where did you get your version?

The difference may be that I have the Rush 24, and IIRC, you got the Rush 12, yeah? The 24 is a bit roomier, so they may have stuffed more pouches into the interior. I'm pleased with the setup.

I likes my Glocks. I also like my XD's, my revolvers, and my 1911's, but the Glock has wormed its way into my EDC heart. Especially the 26, which is damned-near the perfect carry gun, IMO.

You mind doing a review on that pack, I need one with more depth than height, and the MOLLE system is something I really want, I like hanging things off my backpacks. I saw what appears to be a laptop sleeve in the back, is that what it was?

Oh, nice knives too.
 
mmmmmm Machax!!! I really need to get one ordered. Hopefully be able to get one soon. How big is the rush 24 bag? I've been trying to decide between it and the 12, but I can't find them areound here to compare them.

For me, I EDC my BK2 in an Azwelke sheath. Perfect size for everything, that knife.
The only "swag" I'm getting in the next couple of weeks is 100' of foliage green paracord.
Can't wait for that.

The back part is actually the compartment that feeds out of either of two velcro-secured flaps.

I'll do up a more in-depth review tomorrow, if you'd like. This pack is really great. I don't mind pimping it out.

If I may make a pack mod suggestion, sew an easy grip type tab on the CCW pocket at the top and keep the zippers at the top slightly apart. That way when you need to access the Glock all you have to do is grab the tab and pull. The zippers should open when pulled like that, most do.

I'm having a hard time visualizing that. Are there pics to that mod? Do you have a link to where I could get the tabs? It sounds like a good idea.
 
It's just sewing one inch webbing to the pocket, on the top, in the middle. Looks like the top pocket already has one.
Take some webbing, fabric, whatever and place it on the top of the pocket, in the middle. You want it near the zipper, but on the cordura. Sew it on so that you can grab the tab and pull away from the bag. The zipper will open.
You could use one inch webbing, cordura, canvas, even paracord.
I hope this helps, I suck at explaining things. I'll look for a video to try to explain it.
ETA- Try this for a little inspiration. Take the zippers, put them both at the top, center them, and pull them apart by an inch. Put a finger in between the zipper pulls and pull outwards away from the main body of the bag. The zippers should open. This is what you are trying to do with the tab.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. Good idea. I'll see if I can give it a whirl. I know nothing about sewing, but I'll bet Youtube has an instructional vid I can follow.
