Knife collecting has brought me in touch with some outstanding people, and because of those people I’ve ended up with some outstanding knives. Tony, one of the best mates a guy could have, lives in Australia. We use Skype and I have to tell you, it sure is nice to be able to show someone a knife and not hear…boy that’s pretty. Both of us are fans of the Schrade knives that Herman Williams customizes. It was through our friendship with Herman that we met. Herman is that special kind of person that you might meet once in a lifetime. The fact that he was Schrade’s in house customizer for 24 years is just topping on the cake. This summer Tony and I decided that we should have a special set of Schrade knives made to celebrate the friendship between the three of us. Of course, Herman was the only man to do the job. Three LB-7’s, file worked, polished, handled in fat Sambar Stag, serial numbered and signed on the inside liner with unique COA's. Herman built a one of a kind set of three knives, much like the one of a kind friendship the three of us have. Herman shipped two of the knives to me. Before sending Tony’s knife to Australia, I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the two together.

They sure are pretty Doug:p
or more accurately astoundingly magnificent.
What a fantastic idea-may I ask what the serial numbers signify?
At first I thought it might have been your respective ages but HW doesn't look a day over 36 so that can't be right;).
They are rippers. thanks for showing.

What an incredible idea to commemorate the friendship y'all share and love of knives! HW did magnificent work on the back spring and spine.

Doug as beautiful as those knives are they pale in comparison to the friendship that the three of you have.

Yes ^^^^ these symbols are a pale reflection of the light of your friendships(I only get away with talking like that online, or my wife shoots me down) . I hope the stories pass down your families and that they remain close as well.
Thanks, my day is better, Neal

That is a really cool bond y'all have!
Those knives are quite the lookers as well. They are sporting some gorgeous stag!

Doug,
We had talked about this before on AAPK.I have been torn between leaving the composition on the Schrade USA farmers jack I have or having Herman rehandle it in his jigged bone. I was leaving it as is, in case someone might want it for posterity. I have another like it for myself.I sure do want a HW farmers jack though.

Great gesture of friendship, he has an amazing collection of Herman Williams customs folks.

That is quite a trio! I too have made friends with like minded knife collectors, we are a unique bunch and need to stick to together:)
Thanks for sharing those, they are terrific!

I wont get all sappy, but thats just awesome. Congrats on a sweet knife and lasting friendship

Wow... just wow. Truly a beautiful gesture and friendship. I am just a young guy still but I think I already have some lifelong connections being made. Love the knife community.

The porch is the best. Busse makes me laugh, but this place touches me.(in a good way)

Thats awesome, I love the stamping as well! extremely well executed knives - just amazing file work!

The numbers are our initials and birth years. I made the pictures up to be part of each knife's provenance. Each one is owner specific. I didn't have a picture of Herman's COA so I got a little creative for his picture.
The bottom picture is part of the inside liner...one I forgot to include in the initial posting.
I want to thank everyone for the kind words. The knife collecting community is indeed made up of some of the finest people on this earth.
