Jeremy, as you know I missed a knife I fancied as a small TAC Vest option but if possible could you do one for me?
Here is the idea....
If you take the knife lying on top of the other one as a starting point and we work from the pommel to the tip these are the features which I think would work well....
Using the pommel shape you have here would it be possible to remove the talon holes and put a safety "gut hook" edge going into the pommel like those on a rescue knife so I can slide it along to split boot laces or trouser seems or webbing etc...so it can run against skin and slide up and cut safely and also strip wire if need be ?
Then looking at the depth of the finger guard...keeping this depth would it be possible to do a tapered inverted "U" at the base of the guard so that it could be laid across Barb Wire and battoned through it? This stuff is a constant hassle which I come across on Roof Tops etc and being able to cut it whilst protecting the main edge would be a real help.
Then on the spine edge...I just want a simple edge easily sharpened to an obtuse angle for ferro rod striking...no saw teeth or jaged edge....shape wise this would be fine but the knife needs to be no longer than 10 inches in total....say 5.25 for the handle and pommel and 4.75 for the blade....thickness would be 3/16's and the weight would just have to be what it ended up as....I have no idea on the potential weight....steel wise....your A2 works well with your great convex edge. A penetrator tip would be useful for toughened glass or battoning through a wall.
The idea is to be able to mount it horizontal or inverted on a TAC Vest at chest height for a right hand draw. If the length is a bit less than 10 inches that may help the "horizontal" option. I know there is a post over on Busse about a similar project....but in point of fact I have been thinking about a knife this size for some time...and if it was to be with these useful features it might appeal to others as well ?
Anyone thinking of any other features please chime in but I think this would be a great companion for my Skinny Serrated Camp Blood belt knive.
Let me know what you think? Thanks...Pete.
