My wife of 27 years wanted to give me something special for Christmas 2010. I think she sensed that the tide had turned and the cancer was winning, and she wanted her last gift to be memorable. She called my brother, who lives near Ray Laconico, and worked with him and Ray to decide on design and materials. She gained a great deal of satisfaction by giving it to me. A few days later she asked me, Did I do good? I assured her that indeed she had. Seven weeks later she was gone. I wont go into a description of what the next year was like, for there is no way to describe it.

A few months later I decided that the knife was far too valuable to me to risk damage or loss, so I would only carry it in controlled conditions, mostly just in my house. Having been accustomed to Rays quality, I wanted something to carry everywhere else. I saw something I liked and had him make me one.

Fast forward two years. In recent months there have been great and unexpected blessings. A year and a half ago I stumbled on someone I knew as a teenager, and discovered she was widowed young. I wrote her a note of condolence, for I had some understanding of what she had been through. We began writing and talking, and she helped me through so many things. A few months ago we decided to find out if there could be more than friendship. We were amazed at the profound connection we found. So many miracles and blessings. We were married nine days ago.
She wanted to give me a meaningful wedding gift. My brother called her with a suggestion something from Ray. They worked together and came up with this.

Thanks to my brother, Ray, and the love of two good women.
