A tale of two Arowanas

I first got to see and handle Allen's Arowana at Trackrock this last spring. I knew I wanted one, and managed to pick up the Koa 3/32 in A2 a few months back. I can slice razor thin with it...it's like a laser, and I just love the feel, not to mention the remarkable luminescence of the Koa. My girlfriend about destroyed it while I was on vacation by cleaning it with an abrasive pad and leaving it wet in the drainboard for a week. A huge thanks to Allen for saving it for me.

Now I've just picked up my second one - a 1/8 A2 with California Buckeye Burl. This one feels like a completely different knife! There is an entirely different feel and weight to it that I really like - not more than the 3/32, but definitely different. It's noticeably heavier...more heft...and wow it feels good in the hand!

I didn't think I'd keep both, and knowing how popular the Arowana is I figured I'd choose my favorite and let the other one go. Doubt that's going to happen. I've got to keep them both, as they almost feel like two entirely different knives for different purposes. I'll use the 3/32 for tomatoes and such. The 1/8 is reserved for heavier work, and zombies.

I'm a total rookie, so please forgive my limitations with these comments.

And the photos are deceptive. The 1/8 looks so much larger because it's in the foreground. Both blades have essentially the very same profile.

Sounds like you need one in CPM154 with a synthetic handle. You know, for the cleanings and extended drying times. :D

Two exemplary examples, the Koa is beautiful.

I have one in 5/32" A2 and it is s great knife. I think I am going to need a 3/32" cpm154 stainless version that would get more opportunities to slice into things

Those are two very stellar examples of a great knife ... that koa is exceptional!

Two very beautiful knives. The Arowana is on my list on knives to purchase. I love this design.

Beautiful..a little too beautiful, because I'm hooked now... Really fine images.
