A few months ago I contacted Allen via email as I had a few questions about some of knives that I was interested in learning more about. One the knives, was the Hognose Skinner that I had only seen offered up for sale one time here on Blade Forums. Low and behold Allen just happened to have two on hand and he sent me a couple of pictures. To my amazement one of them just happened to have a purple handle with a black liner and white pinstripe (my favourite liner pinstripe combo) and the other had a terracotta handle with the same liner pinstripe combo. To say that I was excited would be an understatement as purple is my wife’s favourite color and was one of wedding colors. I knew right then and there I had to have both knives as we would be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this year and this would be a perfect gift for my wife Shannon.

Now the hard part would be hiding both of these knives as we had an agreement that we would not get each other a gift this year as we had just purchased a new house. I then had to find the right color of kydex for each one so I could have a sheath made. I ended up showing the picture of both knives that Allen had sent me to my wife so she could help me out. Her first response was, are these your knives and I told her no and that I wish they were because Allen makes an incredible knife. What I did tell her was that I had a knife with a similar purple handle and I was having a hard time deciding what color to go with for a sheath and I needed her keen eye to help me out. At first she suggested black because it goes with about everything and then she said yellow would look cool as well. I then reminded her that yellow was our other wedding color and that it might just work.

Fast forward to July 31st our wedding anniversary and I finally got to present her with the knife. I told her that I knew I wasn’t supposed to get her a gift but I could pass this one up. I unwrapped mine first and she was like imagine that, you got yourself another knife and then I watched her unwrap hers. Now I have purchased other knives in past for Shannon and while she has always thanked me for them I could tell she was never as excited as I am when I get a new knife. However this time was different as I watched her eyes light up when she saw the purple handle and the yellow sheath. Shannon immediately fell in love with it, she kept telling me how beautiful it was and how good it feels in the hand.

Unfortunately we have not had a chance to use our knives as I had to fly back to work the next morning and Shannon had to fly out that night on a business trip. As soon as we both get back home each knife will be used and carried.

I want to thank Allen for making such an awesome knife and I will post up a short review on the Hognose Skinner once I have had time to use it. The sheaths were made by fellow Blade Forums member Joey Bryan aka GLOCKCRAZZ of Bayou Custom Sheaths.

Thanks for sharing and take some pics in use if you can. Congrats on your anniversary. Nice knives, interesting pattern.

I missed this pattern somehow. Totally cool! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing some more pictures.

I am happy the suprise all worked out, what a great story!

Only a few of these were made the first go around, it seemed there was little demand for it. Two are at DLT now with the order I shipped them last week. Check them out!

Wow. beautiful knife. I didn't even know you made that one. I have not seen it at all. I looked for it at DLT and did not see any. they must be sold out. I would like to see one in Walnut.

I just looked too. It seems as thought the order has not been posted yet.

We just haven't gotten a chance to match them all with sheaths and get pictures yet. I'm hoping to get that done tomorrow so keep an eye on the site.

Great looking knives and a great story to go with them.

That's great Tony and Happy Anniversary to you and your wife.

That's a neat looking profile and you were able to secure two great examples of it.

I'd love to see a pic of the knives in their sheaths. Con grats and you sir have an assume wife!

I'll see what I can do. It will be about another week before I can post a picture of the knives in the sheath.
