Fantastic photo's BCCL,

That is one of my favorite Gold Etch 110's. Do you have the Earp version as well?

No, it's definitely on the watch list, I am a big Wyatt Earp history buff!

I am not sure, but I think there are 4 knives in this series, Hickok, Earp and 2 others I can't think of???

Anyone know what the wood on these are?

My pictures do not do it justice, it is fantastic stuff!

...You could always say the wood is from the doors of the Nuttall & Mann’s Saloon #10 in Deadwood where Wild Bill was shot from behind......What a story that would conjur huh??...:p...Nice lookin' knife BCCL...

the 'listing data' i have say the earlyest year mark is 2001 but
'may' have been a 2002 release date with OAK inlays
with only '500 made' for sale it should be SN marked one of two ways
as xxx / 500 or jest xxx with out the 500,,...
i have the same knife.. and it has the 2001 year mark :(
(prefure the anvil mark my self)

it was sold to me as proto type or 'art proof' as it has no serial number
got it from an "relative" of a former employe
does yours with its 2002 mark have a serial number?
and how is it noted ..?

No serial number on the knife, here's what's on the box.

B110-SP18-0

Bar Code is 33753 02988

well then i will note in my data that none with serial numbers are known.
it is worthy of mention that many art knives have diffrent date marks...
some released in 86 and 87 are known to have four dots on them...
some for 2002 have earler year marks as early as 2000.
many have year marks diffrent then release dates...
some such as the 25 year art work seem to have been re-released many times
and have date marks as late as the mid 1990's!
the data i have only addresses the date of the oldest dateable marks known.
and does not addres numbers made after first release data,,,

I've got the Earp version but don't recall a number on it(?). I think a Kit Carson was part of the four editions but the last doesn't come to mind right now........ah.. getting old....

I was lucky to get this set; They were a 2001 LE issue of only the two. According the BCCI list Earp #110SP17 had 925 made; but, the blades were numbered XXX/500 and Hickock #110SP18 had 755 made; but XXX/500 on the blade. I guess the no number etched on the blade were over runs????

These two both have 008/500 etched on their blades.

Great pictures!!!

I just found them in the 2001 Buck Dealers catalog, and it says "first 500 serialized", so I guess any beyond that first 500 are not.

The set was only Hickok & Earp.

I have never bought a knife with fancy artwork/etching on the blade
I was just wondering
Is there anywhere in the paperwork where it says WHO the artist is?
I think it would be cool to get some other pieces of art from the same guy(gal) who did the etching/decal artwork......

I hunted my 'Earp' down and found 322/500!
Cool story Gentlemen....Thanks for the research!

Dave

BCCL,

Check out the tang stamp on your blade & compair it to the one in my pic.

Dave,
What stamp is on your blade? I'm glad I don't have the need to get every variation...LOL

Yours is 2000, which makes sense if they came out in 2001, they had some made up ready to go. Mine is 2002, so that's surely after the first 500, so no serial number for me!!!!

mine is 2001,,, so mine might could be a art test blade...
but then it could be that they used any old blades they come across..
data i got says to me ...
then take orders for up to what they said with the serial number... then if sales were good take another order with out the serial number ... serial numbers are put on by hand and thus cost more... Buck was and still is more concerned with makeing knives and staying in bussness then creating records for us... long as the irs dont give them any hassel i guess the records they keep is jest fine....
as has been said... there is not way to prove or disprove any buck knife...
the decision is based on its "buckness" or if it looks like it coulda been made that way some how... i have knives with stag that were never sold in the catalog that way..
reagonal sales man could order almost any thing with just a " please and thank you" with even more verarity then the custom shop!!! down right expermental some times!
for example the first version liner lock .. the scrip blade stamp i belive was from the kitchen line of tang stamp die's! the limited edition one was later and marked for 97...?
