Today, a fellow forumite's office was broken into and his custom Busse Sword was stolen, among other Busse knives and some firearms.

Any information leading to the retrieval of the sword will result in $500 of store credit with Sharper Instinct, as a token of my appreciation.

If you see the sword (which is pictured in the Busse Virtual Museum at SharperInstinct.com) anywhere on the Internet for sale, let me know immediately and I will take care of you.

That's great that you are willing to offera reward to help one of your customers out! I have seen the photo of the Busse Sword on your site and I will keep an eye out for it. Is it an one of a kind custom or are there a few others that are similar to it floating around?

Good Luck!

The special features of this sword were the satin polish and the fileworked bladecatch...not many of those were made at all.

will keep a look out around here at the local shows and on the net and let you know if i see it or something like it.....feverdoc

Perhaps this should get put over in general and community. Just a thought - more ground covered then? What part of the country/state did this occur?

Don't know if revealing the place would help find it or hide it for someone....I will leave that up to the customer if he would like to reveal it.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments all...

Is this the same one that was at the Indy 1500 gunshow not long ago? If it is, I got to handle it and it truly is a work of art! Will keep a look out around the local shows. Do you have a list available as to the other knives? It would be more than a coincedence if they all "appear" on the same table at a show.
Happy holidays to all.

Sounds like an inside joby job! Shake down family and friends! Sad isnt it?

I hope I wasnt offensive with my last statement. People that steal Busse knives usually know what they are doing. They know the blade's value. The thief PROBABLY saw the sword prior to the B&E incident.....that makes it an inside job....

I was not implying anything about the sword's owner friends and family....sorry again!

If this act was perpetrated by a non-"insider" we could likely assume that he has no idea what these knives are. After all, the Busses all sterile.

Chances are, the scumbag isn't computer literate, so E-Bay would be an unlikely place to find these. However, if the thief does try to sell on E-Bay, the sword would likely be found using a search string like "black, japanese, sword."

These knives may end up being used to pay crime-related debt (drugs?) and may never see the open market. The end user will likely have no idea what a fine piece of cutlery it is.

But call every pawn shop, gun shop, and sporting goods store within a 50 mile radius just in case.

By the way, I had two guns stolen from my apartment last year. It's not a pleasant feeling knowing that some scumbag is running around with your weapon tucked in his belt.

Hi!

I'll pass the info on here at Blade Magazine. If someone calls for info on value or tries to advertise, we should be able to catch it.

Thank you all, and thanks much Andy for your kind offer. You are too much sometimes

The Busse Wakisashi was stolen from my office in Indiana during the early morning hours of December 19th. With it went the brand spanking new Busse Battle Mistress, several other damascus art knives, and firearms.

Most stuff like this from a burglary is not pawned, not sold to dealers, but is traded to a meth dealer for some dope, at least around here. This is what drives this ****-eating population that steals from us who work. So, chances are if the knives turn up, it will be well down the road, maybe sold by honest folks to someone at a gun show, on the internet, etc.

I am offering $1,000 for the return of the Wakisashi, no questions asked.

If by chance the little pervert who stole these things happens upon this board, know that each day that passes brings us closer together. Enjoy the time between then and now.

flatlander: I would like to clarify that the SIQ (Sword In Question) regarding Andy's post is NOT the one you've seen on display at the Indy 1500.

straightblastpfs: I am also a resident and business owner in Indiana. I am very unhappy to learn of your incident. I have several friends in the law enforcement community throughout the State, as well as several friends who are dealers. I will make certain word is spread with these people. Please e-mail me your phone number so that I may contact you immediately should anything turn up.

With that I remain........

Yours in Nuclear Enthusiasm

GPB, thanks for the info. After handling the sword at the show I can understand just a little of the loss straighblastpfs feels. Blades carry the soul of the maker as well as the owner in them. Hopefully, whoever took these will end up in an ER and jail because they have NO idea what a blade will do "all on it's own".

Well, they tell me the POS has been caught, and has confessed to 32 burglaries. So far, he is claiming he tossed all the knives and guns into the river. When I get a location some dive buddies will go in and see if he is a liar and a thief.

I am working hard to raise bail money for the little bandit, so I will keep this short

Thanks for your concerns, this place is indeed a second family.

If someone gets it to the UK, I will tell you! Seriously, sorry to hear about that, bloody bandits...

Glad to hear they caught the SOB, Blast. Too bad the ACLU has to interfere with our ability to recover the merchandise.

The only thing sadder than the loss of the pieces is that he'll be right back at it again (avoiding any serious uh,..."reprimand"?)
