i thought i would post this here, since this is one of the main forums i frequent... i had put a thread up about this a few months ago and this is going to hopefully fix my knee issues...:( i haven't mtn. biked or rock climed in months and personally i'm starting to go nuts....

i go in for my knee surgery first thing tommorow morning.... :thumbdn:

it is out-patient, so i should be home later in the afternoon... i'm pretty f@#%$*g bummed about it... i had surgery on this same knee, for the same injury, about 5 years ago... so here we go again for round 2

for the most part i can handle pain really well.. i have done a lot to my body over the years... i remember being really tore up aferwards, from the anastesia.... that stuff is horrible...:barf::barf:

i'll be sure to keep you all posted, i can try and get online sometime this weekend..... i'm menatally preping as we speak......

Good luck, and hope you can get back out on the trail as quick as possible.

Good luck man.

Dont be surprised if the pain is well beyond your expectations. After your hospital stay and the morphine isnt available.

Got that t-shirt twice.

The surgery is only part of the pain rehab is as bad or worse but it must be done.

What are you having done?

thanks for all the positive words folks...

skammer-- if it's anything like the first surgery, the pain wasn't too bad...:o
5 years ago, i fell partially through a roof and tore my meniscus up pretty bad... they ended up stitching it up and last summer i squated down and something popped in my knee and it hasn't been the same since.. my doc. thinks i re-tore my meniscus...so he's going to go in and check it out and probably remove a portion of it..:barf: hopefully my ACL is okay... there might be some damage done to that....:thumbdn:

I can relate. In August I broke both my legs skydiving (avatar is me lying in the field as they found me) and 2 weeks ago finally got onto crutches and downstairs to my workshop!! Just take it as easy as you can to make sure you do not reinjure yourself more. For me the forum has been a mental lifesaver.
Recover well!

Lets hope its the miniscus. An ACL tear is nasty business to fix.

Wishing you well, your an old hat no worries.;)

Mike, you already know how to handle it. Mental control trumps pain better than anything else. And a positive attitude going in negates the anxiety. Just think of other things and let the rest take care of itself. Then come back on and yell at us. Tell us what worthless knives we all have. :D

Good luck bro.

Take care of your self and get well soon.. There is that trail in the woods that still waits for you.. Dont let a knee slow you down for too long..

Mike check out the books and movies thread and then check out amazon.com,
Your credit card might take a beating but well worth it, in your situation.

thanks for all of the kind words guys....:thumbup: they're much appreciated....

liam-- i have a bunch of the books already and quite a few of those movies too...:D not to mention the fact, that misses and i just got back from blockbuster with a nice stack of movies.... i already have nice stack of books and magazines next to the bed.....:(

Good luck tomorrow. Pain is no problem once you know you're going to heal.

I remember when my knees were messed up, what saved me was getting back on my bicycle instead of sitting around. Build towards the activity slowly, but the sooner you're moving the better.

Hey, best of luck. I have been out of action for short spots a couple times and find it real hard. Take the time to study, read, hang out here.....
